Best extensions

I am a newbie and was wondering what are the best extensions to buy. there are so many out there. I know .com is the best, but I know nothing about the value or use of any of the others.

So I want people to rank the best extensions in order of best to worse. I am not going to list them out since i do not even know all the domain extensions available.

are the top 3, I'm not too good at domains either, but I KNOW these are the top 3.

as aznchong said, .com, .net & .org are the most valuable although .com is still quite away ahead of the other two.

.info is growing but i believe will never become mainstream.

.name is personally useless.

.us, .be are fairly good.

.tv can be very good for the right domain although reg prices are high.

.eu has recently been launched so is relatively unknown at the moment, might be able to get a good domain or 2 to start with.

I agree with you except putting .US where .biz is and moving biz as far to the bottom as it can get.

i think .info is supposed to grow, coz i read somewhere in favor of it :
the internet is all about information

.biz is a tough extension for anything other than business to consumer,business to business developments.

.Org is specifically for non profit organisations,If that is the case,A great ext to use.

.com is indeed the most popular, .net is second most preferred after .com, .info is growing while .biz has a long way to go before being considered one of the top extensions. :imho:
