Best extensions

I am a newbie and was wondering what are the best extensions to buy. there are so many out there. I know .com is the best, but I know nothing about the value or use of any of the others.

So I want people to rank the best extensions in order of best to worse. I am not going to list them out since i do not even know all the domain extensions available.

apart the classical .com .net. org it is difficult to say what is best, it depend a lot from the name itself, from popularity (in USA .us is very good, in Italy .it and so on), also it depend from from the particular moment and so on.
Then, best for what? For resell, for development?Investment(in the short or medium,or the long run?).
But never worry, just keep on follow the Namepros forum and you will fast realize your own opinion.

Outside of .com, I think it often depends on the domain name. Personally, I think .net is falling and being replaced by .info and .tv.

I think a name like cancer.info is better than cancer.net because with the .info extension you know right away what you are getting in the site (or should be getting). And an appropriate .tv domain is better than the same in .net.

Again, this is just my opinion...

.info should in no way be underestimated. The future could be great for .info. Some .info domains might even in some cases go higher than .net and .org since it is a meaningful extension. Some other TLD´s to keep and eye on is .cn and .in and of cause the future .eu.
