Domain Fraud with GoDaddy

Has anyone had issues with GoDaddy when registering a domain, paying for it, then having it refunded and turned over to another "outside"company for retail sales? I bought a domain for $14. Paid for it through my CC. Paid for hosting and email set up with that domain all in the same day or transaction. Then all of a sudden the "domain" order was gone and the domain is now listed with another 3rd party for $3800. I called GoDaddy, and they said they would negotiate with the 3rd party to get the domain back but they would get 20% of the transaction. They got the domain down to $2000. GoDaddy was not helpful to look at WHY THE DOMAIN WAS HACKED or "refunded", but yet they were all about helping helping us get the domain back for a commission. My attorney is now getting involved. Thoughts? Feedback? Advice is appreciated!

Godaddy is good register. However, wondering was it a non-.com that might have a premium renewal? If so sometimes, they charge reg. fee by mistake then later take it back and raise the reg. price. Was it a non-.com?

Which domain was it? Was it expired?
How soon was it reclaimed?

GoDaddy has a bug that shows registered domains as available. Check the whois to see when the domain was registered.

it was not expired. It was refunded, and reclaimed in 24 hours after purchase.

There is sometimes a bug at GoDaddy that shows registered domains as available. Check when the domain was registered to see if they are front-running or not.
