Domain Backordering

Can a few of you pros fill me in on the value of domain backordering? I have used godaddy to backorder a few domains that are on REGISTRAR-HOLD but I recognize that this service only "attempts" to pick up names when they drop.

If you backorder a very popular name, what is the likelyhood that godaddy will secure it when it drops?

i have heard godaddy is crap and cannot get any domains which are popular

A high end figured guess of less than a 3% chance at grabbing any domain of value. GD has three known registrars next to over 100+ registrars working for pool,enom, snapnames and Namewinner. Oh yeah, don't forget about buydomains and Ult Search who have about approx. 15 registrars at their disposal.
