Domain Appraisal Game - Now Live

SpaceshipSpaceship
Watch
Check it out guys. It is a Domain Appraisal game. Using NameBio's database we have built a flash game that shows you 5 different domain names that have sold and asks you for an appraisal. The closer you are to the sales price, the more points you earn and get ranked.

Feedback is always welcome!

LoL - its not supposed to be easy !!

I think the only people who have found success were people who opened up another browser with NameBio in it! LoL (CHEATERS!!!!)

Ive also found the game to be horribly addicting. And Odds are you wont be seeing the same domain names, as it currently stands the Database it draws from has almost 14000 domain sales.

Feedback is always welcome! Many suggestions will be added to the next game edition.

Thanks,
Justin
You should reduce the time.

I used Google. "domain.com sale"

How much time do you think it should be? 10 seconds? 15 seconds? 20 seconds?

I agree - cheating is already rampant!! LoL and the game has only existed for a few hours!

My suggestions:

- Decrease time to 15 seconds, that's just low enough to be worried about moving your attention away from the site, but hopefully long enough to make an educated guess.

- Have a button to make the details panel slide down after the game, if you want to see your results.(instead of current pop-up).

- Increase the game to include 10 domains in total.

- Monitor the guesses, and create an area of the site to show the results (maybe in details section? avg. guess compared to real sale price?)

- Add some graphics/custom buttons and generally spice up the interface a little. Animate the name in?

- Don't know if it's possible but make it so you can't paste an answer into the input box (i.e. a copy/paste from Google).

Great Suggestions Icon!!! I have send an email to our developer with several of them. (some of them are already in the workx!)

Thanks,

Updates on the game!!!!

The game has been updated!

We now are giving you 10 Domains to Appraise and we have removed the google adsense and replaced it with the scoring info. Weve also limited the time for available appraisals to 10 seconds. This should prevent most of the cheating. We are working on a few more updates and will have those shortly!! Very exciting!!!

thanks,
Justin

Thanks NameWaiter! Im excited to have it going and I must give some Credit to NamePro's member RegFee (Jorge). He has been instrumental in advise and suggestions for the NameBio.com site - including this game!

Thanks,
Justin

Thanks,
Justin

I'm glad to see the game is now live. Thanks for the recognition, it means a lot to me!

Don't forget my other suggestion, making a quick point and click game where people have to pick which of a group of domains sold for more. That might take a little more work to make sure love.com, obiuw.cc, and d3f21s.io don't show up in the same group, but I think it would be a nice alternative for people who don't feel like typing.

Talk to you later,
Jorge

Thanks Jorge -

Im more than happy to give you credit. You have definetly been the inspiration of many of NameBio's features! I will discuss with one of the developers your concept and see what it would take to get up and running. You may see this game in the near future!

And, an update for those not reading Blog.NameBio.com - RSS Feeds will be up and running in the next week, I hope to see all of you incorporating them into your sites and or domain blogs!!!

Thanks,
Justin

Yes, the details button was removed (as was adsense). We replaced the adsense banner with the details of your game. It automatically posts after the game is finnished.

Scott -

I had noticed that when I did a link search this morning. Thank you so much, I do appreciate the link! We had an enormous amount of traffic on the game the first day of launch, so we hope to keep it going. More fun stuff will be added as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Justin

Fun game :tu:

There were a couple of domains like "odr" which didn't have an extension attached to the end.

Thanks Sabre - i'll have to go back through the database and do some "cleaning" - there are a few errors, including a .co.uk error, where most of them display as .co's

Slowly but surely the game will be fixed!

Clearly another error. I believe this is actually an IDN, but the way it all gets converted.... I know its buggy!!! But Im working on it!!

LoL

thanks for your support guys.

The game is working better... probably harder to cheat now too with the reduced time and no cut & pasting :)

I mentioned it over the in Domain Tips thread here: http://www.namepros.com/1737863-post63.html it is actually a good domain tip, play this game for a little while and you definitely get some domain name knowlegde.

Another feature idea would be to give you the average margin of error in your details report (i.e. "On Avg. you valued domains 20% too low" or high), it might help quantify into words exactly where you are going wrong.

Thats not a bad thought either. I will discuss that with the developer. But, some good news! we are now recording all data submitted. Which means, in a week or 2 we will be releasing a domain eval report! On average how off our snap judgements for domain appraisals? I dont know... we'll find out.

Thanks,
Justin

Sounds good, look forward to seeing those stats integrated into the reports.

Just found another thing... make it so you can't cut and paste the domain, at the moment you can. This will also help stop cheating.

Another Great Suggestion. This will be added to the next round of updates!
