I am at about 375 mobis now with a list of 40-50 more I would like to reg. My wife says enough is enough. I guess I have made my last purchase for now. What is your partners take on this whole mobi thing?

My wife doesn't mind... because I divorced her in 2002.
LOL I can't imagine what that would cost me:o, but I have a feeling that mine would become a "domain expert" very quickly. Can you say.....HALF?D-:

Off to reg a few of her suggestions, just so she thinks I value her opinion.

Interesting strategy, Jeff.

I do believe I've finally figured you out.

Agree.

My wife (and none - I mean, zero - of her friends, family, or co-workers) have never even heard of the .MOBI, IMHO. Each one of these people has a cell phone, as well ... and with the exception of a couple of them :p ... all are highly educated, tech savvy, and well read, as well. It's not very encouraging as a .MOBI owner myself, humbly! :guilty:

Thanks for the interesting post.

My family put their foot down and said enough is enough at 130 domains. So now I just don't tell them about my reg's anymore!!

I'm officially a closet regg'er now....

Righto, I guess I'd surely like to hear as well ... what is the strategy in stating that my wife and "none of her friends, family, or co-workers have never even heard of the .MOBI, IMHO."

Thanks much.

I have the same situation -- perhaps worse... They literally think I'm wasting my time, money, and health  Okay, so maybe they're right on the health... Been pulling a few too many late nights on Namepros lately

Well...They are correct, as you have stated. But, I do not see the harm unless you end up in a cave whispering precious, my precious to yourself.

Like some of the .mobi "Gollum's" we see lurking.

I love that scene in Anger Management...I have watched that movie over and over just for that one scene. hehee...always makes me laugh my ass off...

Also..my wife let's me do whatever I want financially. I don't even work...she does though. :) I got me a sugar mama.

And Jeff..I have yet to find a single person I know in person that knows what Mobi is. Whether they are tech savvy or use their cell phones all dang day. When I see people on phones at the bar I often ask quaintly if they heard of dotmobi. Everyone just goes...huh? I then move onto better conversation.

labrocca, why not go the whole scientific route, and ask ramdomly if they know what .info, .biz, .eu and a few others are, and what for, too! Be interesting to see the responses for such, and to which questions too!

(..probably get the same results almost for any ext. except the top 3, .com .net .org, I'd think.)

:bingo: And those have been out for how much longer ???

Back to the OP's point ...

I'm sure that everyone's waiting-to-reg list is shrinking week by week. So, I'd say if you have a list of 50 names that you really like whenever you look at them, think of how you might develop or market each name if you were to reg it. Pick the very best 7-8 and get them ASAP to avoid the coulda, woulda, shouldas. That $100 you'll spend for reg fees is VERY short money. One can drop $100 easily in a day on a dinner, ballgame, or pair of shoes.

Then reg the next best 7-8 from your list in a couple of weeks, and so on. You'll change your mind on some, drop some and add some new ones to the list. If they are marketable enough names, flip a few for $50, $100, or more each to help recoup your costs - if you need to. Actually it's not a bad idea to put any list or idea down for a while and then go back to it at a later time with a fresh perspective.

Taking educated risks is part of being in business.

Yes, I regged the last of the reg fee names I was interested in. Now I just have to wait for that tax return and it's time to get some good .mobis :lala:
