Hi,

I need your help. I am not native english person.
I am searching for a domain name for my website. Does the word "wily" sounds ok? It doesn't have bad meaning?
I wanted "smart" but smart is already taken.
So I search for synonym and found "wily".
I just want to be sure it doesn't have a bad meaning.

What do you think about?

Wily has a similar use to sneaky, but not always as negative.

Like a "wily veteran" in a sport would know how to take advantage of an inexperienced newcomer.

So it depends on how you want to use it. Wily Investor is good, Wily Mom doesn't really work for example.

Seems easily confused with Willy, which I believe is British slang for penis :(

I wouldn't use "Wily" in branding a product or service, but it might fly for a humor or "insult" site.

Or a cartoon character or rock band.

"wily" is the same as "woody", or "pecker", or to some extent..... "shaft".

The word isn't commonly used - and to me, it leans towards the sneaky connotation. There's also a famous cartoon character with name using a play on this word.

If I were to hear the word said stand alone, the first thing that would come to my mind is actually the book publisher Wiley.

wily nily comes to mind for me which translates to - Half ass.

" he didn't read the instructions and built it wily nily"

That proves that your brain is wired differently.

The picture that comes to my mind, is a bit gross. I actually can't shake the images out of my head already.

Willy with two LLs means Penis.

If you walk up to a guy and say "Show me your Willy" either he will be offended or he will whip it out.

You can always test my theory ;)
