Does g.cn Google use whois info? Tale has it that domains with newly updated whois info will be put into google's sandbox.

Yes they use certain aspects of whois.. I've proven it myself.. Updating the whois does not matter as much as complete records.

Would you like to share more details about how SERPs will be affected by whois? Especially your experience.

Some say Yes and Some say NO. If you ask Google Team then they clearly say NO.
But hard to believe them. So I think yes, they do use whois info.

you can bet any useful info on a website they will use

I really doubt it. Think of the Privacy Protection feature present in many WHOIS records: there is no way to know who the real owner is.

I don't think Google uses whois data because every time I Google my sites I find them on Google Maps where Godaddy is (Scottsdale, Az), not where I am, or even the address on my sites are. I wish they would. Google seems to be more focused on local stuff these days. I'm trying to get listed in the local results but that's not easy, unless you have a published phone number under your site's name.

Who is the story teller? Must be a fantasy lover!

The people who claim such things don't understand the very basic principles of indexing and SERP.

I don't think so. Neither heard it from google team nor any seo expert said that.

I think that Google pays a lot more attention to IP changes than whois changes.

The only variable I think they might consider is domain age which would come from the whois. Other than that, Google's algorithm purportedly considers more than 200 different variables, so its weight to SERPs is likely negligible.
