I've had a couple of UK celebrities names parked at sedo that average 40 hits a month each and i've made 1 euro in over 12 months.
What would you say a reasnoble income/No. of hits per domain parked is?
Also, do you think i would be better off as an amazon affiliate linking to all the products this celebrity is involved in?
PS. i can do without any trademark warnings of impending doom.

Hey... I've had great luck with (2) celebrity typo's parked on Sedo.

DanicaPatric.com (Danica Patrick typo) (earns $11/mo on average)
KanyayWest.com (Kanye West typo) (58% click-through)

Are the keywords for your celebritry's domain picking up good sites for them to click on?

The idea is for them to goto your site and just blindly click since the links are so good for your celeb.

No the links aren't that good actually, 1 is for comedy videos when this celebrity is more of an all round entertainer. Another is for tv's when really he's just a tv star.

Can i ask how many hits do you get on danicapatric.com? So i can see if the links are the problem or simply the amount of traffic.

I don't know about you but whenever i type in a web address and see that it's parked at sedo for example i know there's no content there so leave straight away, i can't see how people would bother clicking on links unless they were complete newbies or old people who don't understand it's parked.

Change the keywords for your celeb domains, that sounds like an obvious problem.

DanicaPatric.com gets 193 uniques/mo.

Suggestion

For what it may or may not be worth.

You might try building a mini-site using some public domain content.

Maybe do some RSS news feeds. There is a very easy to use RSS feed application at www.neoprogrammers.com/ .

Do your Amazon links (doesn't seem to work to well for me) and don't forget Google.

Be sure to submit to SE's. I always submit to MSN directly.

Not getting rich but have a few working. I give them a year to start showing a profit.

A couple of my latest are www.gorillaz.us and www.shakira.ws

I can't answer that question because I have not tried one without the other except for some with no affiliate type things like www.tecopottery.info or www.denverwhite.info .

Nearly everything I get is from Google. Can't say much except I get a Google check every 1 or 2 months from about 20 sites (some generate nothing and will be closed).

I do have an advantage in the form of a PR4 site I link from to get a bit of PR but still that damn Google savdbox. www.rosevillepottery.info has been up since late April -- above the fold on MSN & still in the blasted sandbox. :'(

If you own a domain but won't be using it then it's your best option.

It does take work and doesn't always pay dividends. I had 1 parked at Sedo earning nothing, built a mini and now it is paying its way.

Good luck -- hope it works out.

Depends on the site, i've never made anything personally but perhaps the domains were rubbish! Imagine if your parked google.com lol :)

Some of what is being discussed here is parking and some is light development. Major difference currently in the amount of effort involved. I have a few generic names that get some light traffic 20-60 visits a month that generally bring in ~$.50 a month from parking. If I were to follow hark's plan I could actually probably make them generate a profit but I'm happy that they'll cover reg fee for now. :tu:

There are several free submit services. I am not so sure there is much benefit from them.

For MSN just do a search on www_yourdomain_ext (_ = .). If the name is not in the database you will see a link to something like 'Submit your site'. Click and follow the instructions. Very quick & easy. In a few days you should see that MSN has spidered your site. I will say that it does seem to take a bit longer with some of the ccTLD's for some reason.

I have been told that if you just enter www_yourdomain_ext at Google they will spider the site. I have no proof but it seems that way.

It is a good idea to spread a few links around. I have found that putting a link in my Mambo forum sig will show up in searches while your site will not. Google is one strange animal. I discovered this quite by accident when I put a link to one of my sites showing an example of using my FormMail script.

There are no guarantees. A lot depends on competition for your keywords and the way your content is presented. Meta tags are not as important as used to be but always have a good title and it won't hurt to include a description and a few of your best keywords (do not spam!! no more than 8 or 10). Just single words seperated by a space. (example -- instead of "roseville art pottery, roseville art, art pottery, roseville pottery" just use "roseville art pottery". I am not a SEO expert but this is what I have found by reading SEO sites and experimenting.

If you will look around a bit you will find that some people with large portfolios of domans do something very similar using templates.

Nothing wrong with that. I have lots of names parked that generate a lot less. I have 1 at Sedo right now with 106 views and 0 clicks. I am looking for some good content to make a mini of this one -- is a .co.in. I am also frustrated that www.bamboo.co.in doesn't get but very little traffic.
