Parking tips for a new domainer

Hey everybody, I've been researching the whole domaining thing for a while and recently made a few purchases. I parked them with Sedo and earned a tiny (as in, $1.11) before reading some great reviews of NameDrive and switching over to them.

But, I've had my domains (12 in all) parked with them for a almost a week now and I haven't made a dime.

Originally, I thought that I might just need to wait longer and be patient, but then I did some more research and heard that people sometimes make money within the first couple of days after parking them.

I'm guessing my domains are just average at best, and that once I perfect the art of picking good ones, my revenue will increase (after all, I only have around 50 unique hits from all 12 domains combined in the span of a week). But until then, are there any tips that I can employ that can help me monetize domains via parking?

Thanks guys.

You got it right: to make money from parking the names have to pretty good (generic) or have been previously developed so you can enjoy expired traffic.
You need (good) traffic to earn revenue.
It is unlikely that traffic to your names will grow significantly over time, so the names with little traffic should either be sold or developed. Switching between parking providers won't make a difference if you only have a few visitors here and there.
Quality is always better than quantity. Also, the domains with traffic & revenue are to be found on the aftermarket, not in fresh regs (unless you are lucky) :]

Thanks a lot; rep added.

Based on what you said, I think what I'll do is try to sell off my current batch of domains and either break even or come out a few bucks ahead, using it as a learning experience. Then I'll check out the aftermarket (I've already got my eyes on a couple over at TDNAM, so I might make a move for one of them) and try to reel in some quality domains that way.

The best way to make money with parking is through .com type-ins. These are hard to find, but it is not impossible. As already stated, the domain after-markets are good places to start looking.

I park my domains for years.

Try to pick up:

1) Type-In Domains with Traffic
2) Typo Domains with Traffic
3) Expired Domains with Traffic.

And taste them first.

Good Luck,

Why don't you park these names at Sedo? Some names do better at different parking companies. If it has worked at Sedo, then go back and see if it still earns you money.

I agree with TonyFloyd - parking isn't making the money it used to.

but domainers want parking because they dont try for developing 1000+ of their names :hehe:

but if you have 1K domain names will u develop or want to park ;)

and now new domainers also regging in terms of 100+

And? Do the ones that made no money at first start to make money at some point? Also what about the reg fees for all those years on domains making no money?

I am not being sarcastic or anything...I really want to know! :-/
