Hi!
I've heard a lot of different things about SEO and I hope someone with 100% accurate information can answer my question:

Does age influence SEO? (Will a domain registered in 1995 will get a higher rank than a domain registered in 2008 if they are included in search engines at the same time and they have 100% similar content and SEO)

Thanks

Yes,
Older domain has more benefit than the new domain

YES :)

A domain registered in '95 will definitely rank better that one registered this year or 2 years ago (assuming they all have some content there)... Because the search engines know of the '95 website for a long time and they kinda "trust it".

But will the domain from 95 rank better than one from 2008 if they're included in search engines at the same time?

and the content on both sites are exactly the same, and all the backlinks to both sites are exactly the same, etc, etc???

yes exactly! If the actual age of the domain (When it was registered) is the only difference.

then i would say yes, however, such circumstances are extremely unlikely, and domain age alone plays a very small role in seo as a whole (imo)... to the point where i wouldn't even bother with it in terms of seo.

I would say age does play a factor with google. Google likes older domains as they have been around a longer period of time. The older the better I say

It is A factor, but it is not significant. You don't need to worry about it.

Right from the horse's mouth: Does age of a site/domain has influence?

Matt Cutts: "In the majority of cases, it actually doesn't matter--we want to return the best information, not just the oldest information. Especially if you're a mom/pop site, we try to find ways to rank your site even if your site is newer or doesn't have many links. I think it is fair for Google to use that as a signal in some circumstances, and I try never to rule a signal out completely, but I wouldn't obsess about it."

Maile Ohye: "A site's reputation can be a indicator to search engines, but of course, it's not everything. Having a site for a long period of time can establish credibility with users, and as a search engine we also want to reflect this type of credibility. Of course, newer domains can also gain users and credibility. It seems like running a good site is a bit like running a reputable business. So yes, if your domain has been credible for years it can help. If you buy an old domain and put all your content on it in hopes of getting instant rankings, that's not the best idea."

You better believe that it does. I am struggling to overcome two sites that have a 5 and 9 year edge.

In my opinion, which content got indexed first by google will have a greater value.

Offcourse domain age matters in search engine ranking.

I have two domains of the same keyword. One is old and .org and the other is slightly younger due to a drop 2 years ago but a .com.

The org is indexed and visited much more than the com, even though they have the same content. Over time I am sure the com will gain strength but the age is the differencial at this point. Neither site has pagerank yet. Both have a few backlinks but nothing that would account for the difference.

Not sure if age is the determining factor there... If they have the same content, its likely the .com will not overtake the .org without outside influence, as google will probably see the .org as the originator of the information and the .com just a copied site.

Just my 2 cents as SEO is full of theory and things that can't be proven.
------------
As far as lots of people in the thread saying SEO cant be "proven"... how many people can prove they love their child? No one can. Does it mean you don't love your child? No. Although most people believe you can't really "prove" SEO (who would want to publicly.... massive loss of income) there are trends and analysis you can study.. just like interaction with your loved ones. Does giving your wife flowers always cheer her up? No, she changes with moods and so does SEO. However you can learn the moods and behaviors and use them to your benefit once you understand them.

only if it was an actual site.....

if it was just a parked page, the benefits and results will be very minimal.
