I received an offer for BlogBliss.com for 300. I shot back 770 and the price was excepted immediately. Since it was excpted so fast I'm wondering if I valued it correctly. I sold another domain (can't disclose domain at this time) just before this one. Receive an offer for 500, shot back 700 and this one was excepted immedialely also. If and when I receive another offer should I counter with a higher amount? Neither of these domains had traffic.

First congrats on your sales :xf.love:

Buyers are funny old creatures imo :hehe:

I declined 3 low ball offers not so long back on very good names and feel they were "testing the water"

Lots of guts needed in this game to get its worth.... You just have to know what you wanna sell for first :)

770 is good, it might have fetch at least 1500.00

As long as you got what you felt it was worth then it was a good deal.

If you got the domains for regfee, that is still a pretty good profit. If someone offerred $300 for one of my domains that I thought was worth a lot more, I would have no problem counter-offering in the x,xxx range. If the person cuts off negotiations because of your counteroffer, they are not serious about your domain. Additionally, if they are serious, the potential buyer will probably give another offer that is quite a bit higher than his/her first offer was.

I disagree with this statement. I have in the past, reviewed a domain carefully, and offered a fair value for the domain, only to have the owner immediately, reflexively counter offer double the amount, which was an absurd price for that domain. I stated when making the offer that I felt it was a fair price, but the domain remains unsold 2 years later because they have unrealistic expectations of wealth for their domains.

I think you got a pretty good deal with that sale, and should be happy with it.

I agree with you that you should not be greedy. All I was saying is that if you think the domain is worth x,xxx and someone offers you low xxx for it, do not feel bad countering with what you think the domain is worth. Of course, as RogueWriter said, if you get too greedy you will never sell any of your domains.

I think the sale price was fair as it is an undeveloped name with only brand potential (and having only one keyword where it belongs--infront). I wouldn't worry about having lost out on a little more cash. I certainly don't think it would have sold for more than 1200.00, but what do I know, I've never had a sale as big as yours.

I am contantly getting low balled and that is just part of the game. I don't think anyone has ever offered near as much as they are willing to pay on the first offer, even though I often accept the first offer.

One thing about domains is that it requires a belief in a name as a brand. Even keyword domains will make a brand, though some more effectively than others.

Of course, I honestly started getting into this in order to reserve names I want to develop and have done very little speculating on the whole. Then, I became addicted. I think I do it more for the sport of seeing a brand run through my hands than money. ;)

I wasn't reg free. It cost me 16.00 for two years. It doesn't expire until 2007. For this reason alone I question my decision to sell for 770. It will cost me 77.00 for Sedo fees and 25.00 to transfer ownership. Right now it's at a registrar that charges 25.00 to transfer ownership. They do not push like GoDaddy. Thanks to everyone for your advice. I have a few more Blog domains so I appreciate your advice. I would like to transfer all my domains from this registrar to GoDaddy, but they are all registered until 2007. Thanks again and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!!

Sorry fonzie, I meant to just quote a few words not your whole post: I agreed with most of it, actually. Just my fumble fingers at work!

No problem at all, it happens to all of us. I always like the feedback too. It's always nice to know what other people are thinking.

I think you did well. There's always the possibility of getting a higher amount if you are willing to wait, sometimes years. But often it is better to snap up a quick sale when you have a willing and ready buyer.

A good deal is a happy buyer and happy seller.

Indeed, you made a nice profit. Don't dwell on it. Time to go find and buy more domains to sell with your profits!
