I just registered following domain for "comparison services".

www. comparison services .com

Google search results for "comparison+services" comes up with nearly 2 million search results. Here it is.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q="comparison+services"+&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

But when I look at the history of domains sold, I found out that Hospitalityservices.com was sold for nearly $10,000 (google search : less than 1 million ) and CapitalDevelopment.com was sold for over $45,000 (google search results are less than 1.5 million) . I compared with them as they are long domains.

What do you think? Do you think my domain will be worth xx,xxx? This is I think ideal for price comparison website like moneysupermarket.com .

Thanks for your input

Unfortunately, I don't think so. Would it be a price comparison site? I'm not too familiar with the term

To an end user? It's possible because no one knows :)

To a reseller? Will be very close to reg fee.

Good luck

The problem with looking at previous end user sales is that you can get an overly high view of the value of your domain.

I have know people turn down extremely good offers for a domain because they saw something similar go for $x,xxx.

Of course and end user might come and offer that amount, but it doesnt happen that often.

To a reseller you could be looking upto mid $xx

Low to mid $xx for reseller.

I am thinking to develop the site to price comparison site. Any site offering white label script?

If you look at www.dnsaleprice.com which displayed domain sale prices, you will see .com domains with service or services at the end of the domain sold usually at $xxxx to $xxxxx range.

Some of them are not as good as mine. :)

You have to bear in mind that these are just appraisals. How much an end user buys it for can be anyones guess. Its very unlikely a reseller would pay that much, but an end user might.

hi
Dnsaleprice.com only shows prices of sold domains. Not appraisals.

Just by the ovt and ppc value this is quite nice. I guess a price comparison site is all you can use it for. But maybe not.

I'd say low-mid $xx reseller.

Good Luck

I was refering to our comments, not the sold prices, being just appraisals.

Obviously if you believe the domain is worth $xxxx, that is fine. The question is, why ask for appraisals when you already know what you domain is worth? (in you opinion).

I am just guessing with previous domain sold prices and I like some experts' opinions. Not just guessing blindly.

James, the two domain names you mention, that you are using for sales comps, are substancially better than the domain name you registered. Im impressed though, I like ComparisonServices - quite a bit and think it was a reasonable pickup. Is it a several thousand dollar domain name?

No, not likely.

Now, instead of using the term "Services" as your sales comp keyword. I think I would focus on "Comparison" instead. The reason is that services are so broad, this could encompass domains ranging across the board.

When I searched through NameBio (my preferred sales data site) I found 2 sales comparisons with "Comparison" in them.

ComparisonQuotes.com - $263
ComparisonLoan.com - $23

I think your looking on the lower end of the spectrum unfortunately. I would value the name in the low xx - which could potentially go up. But, even for an end-user the term is "clunky" and long. It also complicates the matter that its plural, as I believe the singular term in this case is better... (just my opinion).

Good luck.

Hi Spade
Thanks for your feedback. But when I check "comparison quotes" in google, it only come up with over 70,000 search results but mine "comparison services" come up nearly 2 million results.

"Comparison Quotes"
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q="Comparison+Quotes"&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

"comparison services"
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q="Comparison+services"&meta=

I thought the latter is more commonly used and I could also find the combination in google news as well.

Thanks for your feedbacks

James, why are you always arguing with what people say, you ask if you think it'll be worth $XX,XXX and then when they say 'No', and give you an opinion of their own, you're arguing with it.

People don't have to give you opinions, and nor do you need to take them into account, but arguing with what they say is just really rude.

If you think you know what it's worth, and won't hear a word against it, then try and to sell it at that price. You might get lucky.

--

My own opinion of this domain is High $XX value, and I feel the amount of Google Results really isn't all that important, the amount of searches is massively more important than the results. You can argue and dispute that all you like, but that is my opinion.

Dan.

James, regardless of the Google search results in your country. The issue is that comparison quotes is a common term, especially in comparing insurance and loan quotes. Big business, with huge clicks.

Your keywords lack specific market acknowledgment and thus, in this case - is too generic.

You are entitled to think whatever you like - but when a vast majority of your peers tries to explain to you why you should tamper your expectations, it may be wise to really consider what they are saying.

Good luck,
Justin

Thanks for your opinions. I will accept your views. Now, I think I am going to develop the domain to some insurance, mortgage comparison site. But some people say it will cost a lot of money. I am wondering any easier way.

As it stands, you might get $xx for your domain.

You are looking for the big pay off and that means finding the right end user and with this domain you need to put some work into it before attracting the right buyer. You've already made your first mistake and that is dumping it on some parking service.

If you really want to attract the right high end buyer, you need to put a little work into it. First go to one of those cheap hosting places and host the site yourself.

Next put up a small, yet keyword relevant site so that you can get the site listed in all the major search engines. You don't need a lot of traffic, you aren't trying to build a site to earn money but instead to build the value of the domain.

Once you get listed in the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask, DMOZ, etc.), go out and actively contact companies you think that might be interested in purchasing your domain.

Have a full blown sales pitch for them detailing why your domain is worth whatever it is your are trying to sell it for. Be very clear and specific about what you want and why you feel your domain is worth it.

It will probably take awhile to find the right buyer but anything worth what you want for it, can't be as easy as just dumping the domain and waiting for the cash to roll in.
