I saw some others mentioning it in another thread and thought it would make a good poll topic.

So do you own your Name Pros user name as a .com domain name?

However the "green" has many different meanings. (Money, Greed, Envy, Newbies, Eco-Friendly, 420, Vb Reputations, LOL) :) Everyone loves Green!

Yep, AccentNepal.com was the first domain I bought, it forwards to my eBay store. I could have gotten a quad-premium LLLL instead, back then, if I had known.

Oh well, it would have not been a very GOOD quad-premium.....

Only another mathematician could love npcomplete. I own com/net/org/info, including the versions with dashes. NP-Complete.com (with the dash) is the second name I bought in 1996, after my last name.

in the last 12 years, I have had only one request for NP-Complete.com, from another math geek, and yes, the request was for the version with the dash!

intractably yours,
Marc

I got jidok.com just in case. I do own my last name .com for many years, been using it for everything.

I own my first name and middle name in .com extensions - my nickname as a .asia but unfortunately my surname is too common. But I'm not too bothered since my middle name is the main one I needed, its also my company name and is fully developed. :)

Truth

I wouldn't want Truthman.com, truth.com would be ok. But I am happy with truth.info.

The Truth will make you free!

No -- but when I was first starting out, Etab.com was in a drop auction somewhere.

Now, with all the LLLL hype, I doubt I'll get it for a reasonable price! :D

I think you should if you aren't using your personal first or last name (ie Mark, Jeff, Mike, Davis, etc.).

People come to associate you as a person and you establish a reputation under that name, so it is good to own the domain name as part of your online brand/identity.

I originally posted under another name because I was in negotiations for a domain. That fell through so I had a screen name for someone else's domain. I talked to the mod's and re-created my account under this name (had them delete old one), and I'm glad I did.

I suppose it is personal preference, but I like having a separate online identity from my offline identity, that is why I use this name on Domain-related boards, etc.

I wish. Hyped.com sold for $30k a while ago, I think.

I do have my FirstnameLastname.com, Lastname.org (damn .com is taken, and the contact email doesn't even work), and several other Nickname.com's that aren't dictionary words.

Nice thread :) Very interesting to hear all of this
