As I see mass job closures and people being forced to stay home and with no paid work relief in sight globally I'm guessing. Are you glad you became a domainer either full time or part time?

many domainers do domain part time and have day jobs. As your day jobs become inaccessible (excluding tech jobs that can be done remotely from home) and therefore if you can't "come to work" you won't get a paycheck do you feel differently now that chose to go into this domaining "side hustle"?

here are a list of domains that sold yesterday just to add to this.

These above were all sales that happened yesterday. We're talking about sales for domains that happened during this crisis. If any of these were sold by actual domainers or bought by domainers it seems that the domaining biz seems to be unaffected no matter what crisis. If these domains were sold by domainers who live in heavily infected areas of the world right? Then the money they are getting for these domains sales can really help with whatever panic buying they plan to do like buying a food supply for 2 months or even 3 months. buying masks and cleaning supplies. buying meds. or paying rent or bills.

I wonder if there is data to support this. I'm too lazy to check.

like for example. What about when SARS hit? or the MERS-COV? or whatever else?

Were domain sales still steady?

So are you glad you are a domainer during these crazy times?

Reality no this is a terrible time to be a domainer most uncertain future either customer base survives or dies. Money might mean nothing if rioting begins.

Those who are successful at domaining might feel lucky. Those who are not - maybe not so much - because they are just as dependent on their salaries as non-domainers with no side hustle. I read the Domain King's twitter where he said he had at least 6 months of food on hand and he's prepared to stay indoors until Cov-19 blows over. Not many people have the ability to do that. I do feel a lot of people now are thinking about what their side hustle can be or should be. Whereas before - many people may have just talked about a side hustle, or never thought about side hustle at all - I think now - COV-19 is/will be the kick up the arse that gets them to take action.

Those who are successful at domaining.
If nobody spends money we have to wait out till they do again. Success might be measured other ways eg not a full time domainer and perhaps living better.

What if it never blows over? (not fearmongering, just saying, the virus does come from the same family as the common cold, that never blew over).

I dont think it will go away completely but eventually they will get a vaccine for it just like the flu

I am hoping it peters out. When that happens - if at all - who knows. SARS eventually did. I believe SARS cases went on between Nov 2002- 04 - but life was back to normal in my neck of the woods by mid 03. I'm aware COV-19 is much worse. Whatever happens - I am hoping there is a vaccine for COV-19 at some point in 2021.

But back to the original topic - I do feel lucky to have discovered domaining because my sales have come in real handy a few times. This current scenario of COV-19 is a different kettle of fish. The challenges are greater. That said, the situation now has urged me to up my domaining game, for example, by choosing better names to reg and paying more attention to the pros. Still not at the level of "having a minimum of six months worth of food (including meat kind) - like Rick Schwartz - but grateful for what I have - always.

already been a remote dev for 3~ years now so no change in lifestyle except spending way less in case others will need to rely on my salary.

less offers on domains this year like many others sadly, so will be way more critical come renewal times on what to keep than I would have been without the financial crisis. it's surely possible we'll see an increase in new domainers despite the lower market due to increased need to survive econmically via. online environments

Luckily I am still healthy feel bad for those who gets hurt (physically).
After coronavirus event is stock market crashing, I just found this guy registering domain names like a prophet, he didn't register 2019 nor 2021...which are still available to reg.

Yes, I feel lucky I chose to be a domainer.
I'm glad to be working without having to drive somewhere, first of all. Had a contractor do a followup call at the house today and he said his company is getting cancellations on follow-up calls for Critter Removal because people are afraid of having someone come to their house. Some of those people may very well regret that decision when they start smelling something dead in the attic because they wouldn't let the service guy in!
I was a floor contractor myself for decades and never had that sort of problem to deal with - definitely different times.
The other thing is that people are always going to need domain names.
Over 627,000 new businesses open in the US each year, according to SBA estimates. That’s a LOT of domain names needed and we can help them with that, right?

I'm actually receiving more offers than before, albeit most of them low ball offers. If your in the PPC game, traffic will go up, but the question is will PPC budget start drying up, or will advertisers double down?

Last month was very good (Thankful), so far this month...I don't know. Noticeable difference. May be a good time for bargain hunters since I think it's a buyers market right now while this goes on.

if that were to be the case, people will develop an immunity to the COVID-19 virus , the same as a cold or flu

Idk that lucky is the right word. Maybe if I can actually get some sales. This cornona virus thing is throwing the economy in a tailspin right as I am in the middle of my first home purchase. Day to day I have no idea what I can even get for hours on my day job. Need to buy something, good luck finding it.

Maybe once things start stabilizing hopefully we can all see the influx of domains being purchased. At least for times I own never // afraid dot com hahah. interestingly enough a little while back got a low ball offer on it too.

human trials have already started. pfizer said they will be ready to start human trials with their's in a few weeks and if all goes well start large scale production in a few months. (pfizer ceo on cnbc)

Yes, most will. But millions will still die.

Any vaccine will not be available to everyone. Initially it will be specific cohorts that get it. Rolling out a global vaccination programme will take years to complete.
