Hello All,

Sorry for the newbie question.

But It simply is, Do I need to buy hosting to be able to park with a company such as Godaddy Cash parking, Bodis, etc?

I have bought and developed websites in the past so have a good understanding of the internet. However Domain parking is new to me.

Thanks in advance for any help. I will post later my domains to get your thoughts.

Thank you very much. Would you recommend Bodis? I have posted elsewhere, but I have purchased, bitcoinfundmanager.com , bulkbuybitcoin, plus a few others I would like to park until further decisions are made.

Register your domain using wordpress.com site which does not take hosting fees.otherwise godaddy take hosting charges per annum.

New registrations don't work well with parking, because they don't have any traffic. Bodis will accept all (even one) domain for you to open an account, It's about your only choice. But you will not earn any money without any traffic to your domain.

To answer the OP... no you don't need to buy any hosting to park your domains. You simply use your registrars DNS to point to your preferred psrking company servers.

Using wordpress on your domain will not cost you any hosting charge. Otherwise you will have to pay for hosting if you use 3rd party hosting provider And if you want to use 3rd party hosting provider then hostgator is my favourite because of there customer support :) Thanks

First setup a wordpress blog and then go to dashboard and in settings you will see your domain name settings. Change the domain there. And remember you will have to tell your domain registrar about using wordpress without 3rd party access. Thanks:D

Agree! Hostgator's customer service is good, as well as its plans. I am using hostgator too. Look for a 30-50% sale on hosting plans from time to time.

I currently use siteground hosting. I find there customer service is outstanding. Instant live chat 24/7 and good value as well.

Still a bit confused about not needing to buy hosting but use wordpress. I guess this is going in from wordpress.com and not wordpress.org.

I am only a .org user and never used wordpress.com

I guess I would have a mysite.wordpress.com domain which would be on a forwards from mysite.com?

Thanks
Mat

Your domain can be registered wherever you want. You only will need to change name-servers to assign your domain name to another server

What do you mean by confused between not needing to buy hosting but use wordpress? You know the difference between wordpress.org and wordpress.com right?

Wordpress.com is for casual bloggers who just plan to blog, and have no intention in gaining revenue from ads. All ads on wordpress.com blogs are from wordpress.com company which they earn all the ads revenue. Pros is that user doesnt need to pay for any hosting plan.

Wordpress.org is for users who intend to put ads (from any advertising companies/ affiliate marketing) and ad revenue goes to users pocket. Cons is that the users have to pay for hosting and install wordpress platform onto their hosting plan.

You have chosen the second option and that's why you have to pay for the hosting. I guess most people (here) would choose the second option because they plan to earn ad revenue from their sites, which would pay off the monthly fee from hosting plan.

You got most parts right, but you don't get a mysite.wordpress.com because wordpress.org and wordpress.com are two separate parties. All you get is a mysite.com. Feel free to correct me if I get anything wrong.

Thanks for this reply. It clears everything up, and confirms what I previously thought prior to posting on here.

One of the replies did confuse matters.

Will crack on and buy hosting so I can continue as I have done previously.

Thanks, and I hope this tread will help other domain newbies.

All the best
