That was me. I didn't think going into detail about how to hack a forum were appropriate, given the circumstances.templaterave said:my post got censored

Why do people pay to join a community that doesn't want you to even mention NamePros?Findacodder said:I dont understand your point.

I know firsthand how distressing it could be to have your site hacked. Our database was deleted last year by the same person. I can only imagine it being that much harder on Adam since he's out of town at the domain conference. We wish him the best getting back up and running ASAP.

Many different password combinations can share the same hash ... so what one does, with some / much effort, is generate a lot of potential passwords using a dictionary, lookup table, etc and compare those until they get some matches to the user's password MD5 hash ... when they do, they can, with some confidence, assume it's likely (they can't be 100% sure though from that alone) the user's real password.

Namepros is DNF buggy man 8-X

we experienced the same a while back and it's especially difficult if you are out of town ...-RJ- said:I know firsthand how distressing it could be to have your site hacked. ... I run a forum on phpBB, and I too know how unsucure they are, but I have taken steps to prevent that from happening to me.templaterave said:to be honest with you RJ... I totally agree and im sorry for going into that much detail, i just wanted to let everyone know how unsecure forums are really are...
biggie said:Many members still refer to "NP" in their threads at dnf when they have posted the same offer here and we all know what it means.
And members/mods and Admins at dnf do not tolerate Namepros bashing in threads either.
There is mutual respect for owners mods and Admins across the boards.
As we communicate with Staff at other forums, especially when there are domain issues or scammers in our midst.
We got that, but as Don said, you can post "NP" and everyone will know what you mean by that. Adam just chose to not allow advertising of the competing forums on his site. You might be supprised to know that Adam is also a member at quite a few domain forums himself. Including here.senaia said:Well, im not tring to flame the subject or anything like that. My first post here was to support DNF, by asking members to pay the forum a visit once its back online.
BUT
Its still disrespectfull to ban the word NAMEPROS at DNF. Sometimes I simply wana reply in public that the domain im selling is registered with Namepros but I can't !! Hope you get my point !
