Discuss your Epik Experience!

I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Nothing works for me today, I can't log in (see screenshot above)...
At least for Ukraine your FederatedID doesn't work (down)...
OR today you banned all Ukrainian IP ranges on FederatedID firewall???

This is what Rob posted on the other forum. May be he forgot to include one item:
- Tech support will no longer available

My relative silence in this thread should not be misunderstood for being indifference. I don't think it will come as a surprise that the normally hard-working Epik team was working particularly hard in recent weeks.

Although it is too early to declare victory (what victory? cheating your own cutsomers?), we are certainly making progress. Here is a recap of just some of the actions taken:

๏‚ท Retained forensic investigation and technical security firm on a full-time basis;
๏‚ท Retained data privacy and cybersecurity outside counsels to report and remediate the Incident;
๏‚ท Implemented industry best practice for secure password vault;
๏‚ท Worked with development teams to cycle all SSH keys multiple times and shut down other means of access to Epik systems;
๏‚ท Implement bug bounty program (est. Oct 7, 2021); (Should it be done years ago?)

๏‚ท Daily coordinated work and efforts combining executive, legal, PR, and security team;
๏‚ท Migrated all source code to new platform;
๏‚ท Forced client password resets;
๏‚ท Shut down all outside access endpoints into Epikโ€™s systems;
๏‚ท Removed all credit card information from live databases (too late now);

๏‚ท Implemented an SSO where strongly encrypted passwords are not stored on Epik systems and authorization;
๏‚ท Continued to expunge unnecessary personal information from systems and implement best practices;
๏‚ท Explored SOC-2 Compliance options after Incident response in near-term;
๏‚ท Notified clients who were impacted by the data Incident on several dates (Sept 18 and 20, 2021), secured critical systems and provided 2 years of credit monitoring to clients who had payment information included in the Incident;
๏‚ท Timely notified State Attorneys General in relevant jurisdictions, where prescribed by applicable state data breach notification law;
๏‚ท Worked with the FBI to help identify the threat actors and take appropriate legal action.

I do greatly appreciate the continued support of our loyal clients as we continue to deploy best practices across the board as we set the stage to be an even better version of Epik.(Good luck with that)

Original leak (middle Sep., db in public domain :() indicates that there are ~100 active accounts from Ukraine. Denying access to this number of customers would be illogical. If the whole country is banned, then it is a mistake and should be fixed ASAP...

@Rob Monster just solved it via DM, whitelisted my IP - and now it works!
Thank you.

I just login (better put: setup) an account with them now, with the aim of making purchase. But, the site seem not to accept my card. Moreover; with the latest developments @epik, is it advisable to make any purchase there now?

We have some countermeasures for bot attacks. They are activated quickly in the event of an attack. IP blocks can also occur due to repeated failed logins.

For folks who are concerned about account security, depending on the level of security you want to achieve, you can use any of these at Epik:

- Strong password
- 2FA using SMS or Authenticator app
- Free WHOIS privacy to prevent social engineering
- IP allow list
- VPN, e.g. see free VPN at Anonymize.com
- MaxLock - optional service for total account lockdown useful for mission critical domains

Nice one. Epik will be strong and better.

This IP block for me was really strange.
Because were no failed logins from my static/dedicated IP, and no bots on this IP as well.

It can happen that an entire IP range is flagged in a bot event.

If there is a full on attack, it would be like asking the fireman why the mail was not delivered after he makes sure nobody's house was burned down when a forest fire was started nearby.

Pardon the metaphor, but if you look up the term "Cyber Pandemic", the metaphor becomes clearer.

OK...

p.s. I know only Afternic firewall, where Ukraine is banned for many years - they banned ALL IP ranges and forgot it.
And I forgot them as well, including GoDaddy/Uniregistry. No my domains there, and all accounts removed.

It was nice to get a notification that .realty names can be renewed at a discount, but most of the good ones I had have been removed from my account (due to non-renewal). All that remain are those I picked up at the end of the promotion last year.

So, in the event you might have any .realty left that might be of value, jump on the renewal deal today...if you did not get an email, reach out to them directly.

DM us the list to restore and we'll see if we can do a free courtesy restore.

I think the registry that the drop rate was going to be very high and so they stepped up.

If they play their cards right, .REALTY can follow in the .VC example.

The real estate market remains red hot so if not now then when!

This is the time for sure...real estate agents/sellers are making a killing all over the country...some areas are out of control.

My next door neighbor listed his 3 acre lot and house (it is a top notch build) for 1.7 million and it sold the same day. Tax value on the property is less than 600,000 and that is a recent calculation. They tried to sell the house 4 years ago for 750,000 and did not get a single bite.

The real estate folks are full of cash and now is the best time to push .realty

Why @Dynadot doesn't support .REALTY?
Some hard requirements of Registry?

I'm not familiar with the policies for .REALTY domains myself, unfortunately, but have forwarded the question on to our team to check if they have any more information and if we may be able to support .REALTY domains in future, thank you.

I found Expected Drop Date of Epik Backorder is inaccurate. The domain should be drop in couple of days (I saw at expireddomains.net) but on the confirmation email is next year 10/18/2022. I then deleted the backorder and re-backorder again but the result is the same.
How do you think @epik, @Epik.com is it normal... I mean is it going to work ? I'll PM the name if needed. Also tag @Rob Monster hopefully may help :)

I have only been active on Epik for about 3 months for drop catching. I'm not going after the big fish. I like it because the dropcatch fee is only $8.49 (because we are all namepros members). Which is roughly 1/3rd of what Dynadot (my main registrar) charge for dropcatches. So I've been pleasantly surprised. My catch rate has been between 50-80%. But we are not talking about triple-A rated names here :)
