discuss Discuss and Showcase Drone Domain Names

Watch
I have recently read that the drone industry is trying to change the word "drone" to something different.

The word "drone" has a very bad rep. for obvious reasons.

What do you think will happen with the word "drone" and drone domain names?

Feel free to showcase your drone domain names on this thread.

I just listed a drone name for 7 day auction at GD, wondering if it was right/best marketplace for a drone name?

Any advice which marketplace is best to auction Drone names?

This is my 2nd drone listing, first was on Flippa.

I am planning to list more drone name soon. Do you suggest any other or GD is preferred?

Drones Could Propel Ambarella, Others To New Heights

BY MICHAEL PERRAULT, INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY
08:02 AM ET

Tech companies are positioning to get in on the ground floor as the nascent drone industry takes off.

They're developing pocket-sized drones and others with wingspans larger than Boeing 737s. They're equipping drones with cameras and sensors to manage vineyards, capture aerial photography for movies, deliver holiday gifts, inspect telecom towers and provide hobbies for kids.

Already, company executives and analysts are gauging potential revenue gains from the drone market.

Chipmaker Ambarella (NASDAQ:AMBA) is supplying system-on-a-chip technology for Chinese drone maker SZ DJI Technology's new Phantom 3 models being used by photographers and filmmakers. Ambarella's sales of chips for drones are likely to soar to $50 million in 2017 from $6 million this year, given Ambarella's close partnership with SZ DJI, Canaccord Genuity analyst Matthew Ramsay said in a July 13 research report.

"We believe the drone market should roughly double each of the next couple years, growing from around 1.5 million units in 2014 to 3.2 million, 5.9 million and around 10 million units from 2015 to 2017," Ramsay said.

Ambarella CEO Fermi Wang said in a June conference call with analysts that shipments of drones with embedded cameras are likely to exceed 1 million units this year and eventually could become as big a market as wearable sports cameras.

In the June quarter, Ambarella is on track to ship SoCs (system-on-chips) for roughly 400,000 drones, Pacific Crest Securities analyst Brad Erickson told IBD. "This segment has quickly turned into 15% of the company's total operating profit," he said.

In a research report, Erickson said that checks of the recently launched DJI Phantom 3 drones indicate "strong demand," with Best Buy (NYSE:BBY) selling out its entire U.S. inventory with no timeline for replenishment. Erickson estimates that every 25,000-30,000 drones sold drives a penny of incremental earnings per share for Ambarella.

Worldwide sales of drones to companies and consumers are estimated to reach $4.5 billion this year, up 36% from $3.3 billion in 2014, according to market research firm Frost & Sullivan, with total consumer and commercial sales reaching $11 billion by 2020.

Drone designers and businesses supplying components aren't waiting until late next year when the U.S. government is expected to announce regulations for commercial drones. As of mid-June, more than 545 companies had obtained permits to use drones to film movies and commercials or for other uses, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

In April, e-commerce leader Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) got FAA approval — technically, a Section 333 exemption — to test its delivery drones as long as they fly at less than 100 mph and under 400 feet. Amazon aims to deliver packages via its Prime Air service.

So Sedo has a big featured header with links to thousands of drone domains on their front page.

has anybody had any notable success on Sedo? $59 to launch an auction seems steep versus Flippa's $9. Of course, if Sedo has 10x the traffic (for example) then I'd understand. Do you get any type of 'add ons' included maybe?

“Selfie Camera Drone” reportedly prepped by Samsung

http://www.technobuffalo.com/2015/07/27/selfie-camera-drone-reportedly-prepped-by-samsung/

Samsung could be getting into the drone business in a big way. A new report claims the company is working on something called “Project Selfie Camera Drone.”

The name pretty much says it all, which is unfortunate since the report from SamMobile doesn’t offer any more details. We’re guessing Samsung’s drone will put a big focus on photography. Believe it or not, “selfie drones” are actually already a thing, though maybe the South Korean giant can still bring something new to the table.

CNBC is about to do a segment on Drones for anyone who wants to see it.
The teaser was "Massive Growth Ahead" saying it could be an $80 billion industry :)

Update:

CNBC video,
Helder Antunes senior managing director Cisco Systems says "Drone will have to be connected, networked and they will transmit Ungodly amounts of data"

The problem I see with Amazon's (High/Low) Airspace proposal is it would create a 'Fast Lane' for corporations and a 'Slow Lane' for private citizen traffic. And, as this traffic would be controlled by a proposed (connected) Cell Tower network... it would be illegal under Net Neutrality rules.

Google, on the other hand, proposed (at the same conference) equipping drones with a IP tracking chip so drones in airspace could be monitored like browsers in cyberspace. A similar method of tracking, but using ADS-B transponders, is used to track and plot the position of airplanes... so someone's small, private, Lear jet is allowed to fly in the big guy's 'fast lane'.

If little Bugs can share the road with semi trucks, double-decker and stretch buses, drones can share the skies with planes... especially when position tracking and collision-avoidance software will keep everyone in their lane / flight path.

Efforts to keep citizens in shallow skies will fail. The deep-sky, and eventually space, is our domain too.

Might be a very bad idea for busier skies/airports!

imho I would Grace delete both of them.

Samsung is Trademarked and you just admitted to creating them in bad faith as a shorten version of their trademarked name.
