The issues we have with emerging tech names as I see it
Any established drone companies (not a lot of them worldwide) already have a domain and existing website so they wont be looking for a new name
End-users wont be looking at any domain auctions, unless its a startup that just happens to be after a particular name that happens to be on auction at that time. Even if the name they want is on auction when they are looking, they wont know where to find this auction unless you have a link on the domain saying this domain is now on auction now and a link to the auction.....don't assume end-users know much about domains and know about Sedo, Godaddy, Afternic, Flippa etc....most of them dont...
If someone is starting a drone company, they will have a name in mind and will check if the domain is available or if its being used and if its not developed, they will then email the owner (sometimes only after they have googled how to find the owner of a domain) to see if its for sale or if you have a "make offer" on the domain, they will make an offer
...and the catch is domainers dont know when a startup is launching so we wont even know if someone is after a domain??
So in this type of niche, the best tactic is to spend decent money and buy a few nice domains and then just wait for end-users to come to you, if you hand-reg a lot of average names, the chances of an end-user coming knocking is massively decreased
Just how I see it..good luck folks
