I have recently read that the drone industry is trying to change the word "drone" to something different.

The word "drone" has a very bad rep. for obvious reasons.

What do you think will happen with the word "drone" and drone domain names?

1. Drohne-Service.de is registered through Deutsche Telekom, which are also offering Hosting solutions (i used to register a domain with them longer time ago), but the Owner is a private person from Leipzig, Germany

2. As a german native speaker i can tell you that these 2 domains are not the best choices language wise.. That private person might not have found any better freely available domain for registration anymore, hence going with this choice

3. German speakers don't like Domains without hyphens (if both terms are strong and descriptive for themself) that much..
example: Putzfrau is one descriptive term/job ("Cleaning maid"), hence Putzfrau.de better than Putz-frau.de..
but AutoService consists of two descriptive stand alone terms, hence German speakers (real end users) prefer Auto-Service.de (also Computer-Service, Industrie-Service etc.) over AutoService.de

They were at the Commercial UAV show here in London, UK.

I was made to believe they were one of the biggest names in the industry.

Would be great if you could use local knowledge to make contacts and see who is in charge of things like domains there.

I am well aware of Riegl, and they are indeed one of the leaders in the UAV/Drone space spearhading the advances mostly reg. scanning methods in that area with few others..
they have been collaborating with Israel for a while already on advancing UAS/UAV reg. military uses (as far as i remember from newspaper stories here), making the Israeli government one of their main clients, but also offer civil/commercial UAV solutions..

ps: they have focused on UAS/UAV solutions for aerial scanning along other methods of scanning already long before these abbreviations became known to a wider public..

Picked up drone / mules.com thinking drones will probably be used quite heavily for smuggling drugs over borders and elsewhere . . . after buying it, I realized it's probably not something that would make a good public website.

Owner was supposed to be transfering me the name for the past 2 months but took ages to reply to every email and eventually just took to long.

I was extremely annoyed that I don't already have that name and now even more so knowing that @jideofor told the whole world to back order it.

hey.... I am sorry. How am I supposed to know that you had your eyes on it? besides, before I posted it here, it had already been backordered at snapnames. Logically, people who backordered it there would definitely backorder it at other places. How did I know? Domaintools revealed it as up coming auctions. In fact that's where I saw it. if you doubt me, I will show you directly where to see this yourself. just PM me.

regarding owner not responding, it happens all the time and this is probably because something happened to the owner which one cant explain.

Last time, DomainShane revealed a domain that could have ended at $17 for me... i was forced to battle it up to 485.... so, I understand your frustration on me... but trust me, a dozen of eyes had seen it even before I did and they had placed a backorder for it. otherwise, how did I see it?

wow... it seems he didnt even know the domain had expired. You should have educated him, mate. That means he didnt know the status of his domain.

besides similar stuff happened to me just last night.. bet on aerialshipping.com, went under radar and was almost sole bidder until frank (schilling) entered the game (even though he was at Namescon) shortly before closing and outbid me.. now it's his, shit happens..

To be honest I'm more frustrated that I was exchanging several emails with owner and should have got aircams for next to nothing as he was trying to transfer it to me before it entered pending delete

I am sure that domain entered the Godaddy auction but unfortunately,,,, no one bidded. what you didnt realise was that you were dealing with someone who had no much knowledge of domaining and you could have got the name easily by educating him with the knowledge of the status of the domain.

Even at that, it is very possible to have asked him to pay the renewal fees when it entered redemption period, which you shall reimburse him , and have it transferred to you.
