discuss Discuss and Showcase Drone Domain Names

I have recently read that the drone industry is trying to change the word "drone" to something different.

The word "drone" has a very bad rep. for obvious reasons.

What do you think will happen with the word "drone" and drone domain names?

Feel free to showcase your drone domain names on this thread.

:$: Well understood, @Avabelle. Ordinarily, the situation at hand usually dictates an action to be taken. It could've been any of us. Hold on fast to what is right. Cheers.

currently negotiating a lease deal for one of our premium domains Aerial+keyword dot com with an US UAV/UAS firm in the total amount of 6 figures, to be paid over a year.. details will follow once confirmed and done, if no NDA required by client..

to get an idea visit our business at AerialFirm.com, set up in the past year

Nice. Good luck with the negotiations mate.

So the UAV firm has bought the domain for six figures that they will pay in more than a year term? That's awesome. A six figure (to be) sale.

If O.K, would you like to share how the negotiations started and who approached who first, and how?

Thanks,

Glad to hear about the "Virtual Reality Drone" sale, because I hand regged ImmersiveDrone(s) dot king just yesterday. It's crazy that the buyer didn't think of "immersive drone" first, because that seems to be the more popular term used in the drone industry (besides "FPV", which isn't exactly related).

I also just regged today CartographyDrone and DroneCartography dot king, because the drone aerial mapping industry has really taken off.

There are still a lot of good drone domains available for hand regging that may be valuable in the coming years since the drone industry has exploded.

before you reg, think about what kind of business would use the name and why. also think about if you were that business, would you want to spend your money on those domains in the aftermarket?

if i had a quality drone business, i personally would skip those domains for one that describes what I'm selling or the service i'm providing. just my opinion. you just need to take your time and think about a name and research.

first research, then reg if it makes sense to that industry (something they can recognize and say "i can identify with that name, i need that name")

The new Amazon delivery drone unveiled... at last!

Amazon's drone delivery project Prime Air has unveiled a new prototype in a video featuring former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson.

According to the video, the drone could fly for up to 15 miles (24km) and deliver a parcel within 30 minutes of the order being placed.

There was no indication of when it might be used by the retail giant.

The firm was given permission to test delivery drones in the US earlier this year.

It also has drone delivery development centres in the UK and Israel.

The prototype will be part of a "family" of delivery aircraft, Mr Clarkson added in the clip, and is one of around a dozen devices the firm is developing.

The drone is equipped with "sense and avoid technology" and can fly at a height of 400 feet.

I've been on the fence with drone names, particularly while (like OP said) the term "drone" continues to get a bad rap. "UAV" on the other hand, are swell (there are some popular sites with it), but the acronym might make its mass appeal hard.

Personally, I got a couple while awaiting the direction of the wind on this one (pardon the pun):

To clarify again:

UAS/UAV/RPAS = terms used by the industry themself, depending on the area
Drone = term originally used in military and later adopted by consumers not directly involved in the industry (apart from aerial photography/videography which every Joe can do nowadays)

Aerial + term = describing services/applications/etc. possible via UAS/UAV, used in Industry (Aerial imaging, Aerial mapping, Aerial photography, Aerial inspection etc., adopted 1:1 from traditional approach via Airplane/Helicopter/etc.)

Useful sources to stay up to date in this industry:

Some of you guys here are great with Drones, and have done well with them. A question for you drone experts, is DRONING a generally used term for the hobby of drone flying? I googled a bit,but don't see much in the way of that term being used. Would love to hear your thoughts

Lots of hyphenated domains in there for the "most influential aerial domain portfolio & internet presence on this planet"....

I beg to differ.

Partially agree with you, but other than hyphenated domains, he does have an inspiring aerial domain portfolio.

Sorry for the late answer, just finding this thread again:

The hyphens are mainly defensive registrations (and still serve SEO purposes well), we own most of these also in the non hyphenated version.. so a potential end user (often from Europe) will still have to seek us out in the end when he finds both versions unavailable like it happened already 2 times in the past 6 months (one from UK, one from Germany)

ps: the portfolio on the website is far from complete, the actual number of often exact matching application domains in the UAS/UAV industry is right now 347 but we only extend the list on the website on a weekly or monthly basis as we are not in a hurry.. most end users who contact us get a detailed documented list via email.

pss: a lot of education efforts necessary unfortunately upon most inquiries since many shareholders in the UAS/UAV industry have no idea of potential values of domains.. important is the fact though that they are more often than not real end users with certain financial capabilities..

Curious what the value of drone // practice // com might be. I'm getting some interest in the domain name and wondered what a fair price might be. It seems to have some pretty good uses. Any opinions would be appreciated.
