Development is great, we talk about it alot, some are into it, some want to learn. I am pro development, with a complete understanding of all it entails and having a business plan.

First off I am only talking to people doing this as a business not a hobby or for fun.

You need to think what you are going to do once a site is developed.

How are you going to make money off the site ?

Is the topic of the site something you enjoy, so putting in a lot of time is worthwhile ?

Who else is in the niche ? How do you differ ?

Developing a site especially with video content that has no plan may cost a lot of money in people looking at free videos (BANDWIDTH) then leaving without you making anything.

If you are developing you are really starting a small business that needs money,energy and a lot of time spent keeping it sharp and on top of the competition.

bamdwidth issues and their asssociated costs may only become an issue when yoiu have achieved a huge milestone - critical mass - in other words so many viewers/traffic that you will need to upgrade to some serious servers on steroids....But thatis a problem everyone should wish to have...you got traffic then you got advertisers........then you are into the money....

way before you get all that traffic your immediate costs are what I mentioned when developing on a budget........I got a two man film crew ti reduce their rates by 50% because when we met up we connected for two hours, if you are going to emply sales peop;le that costs money including wages, an office, a laptop and a phone, then your monthly ad spending campaign, web design, domain name, syndicated content, unique content this will sap yoiur funds way before server space will......

James 0306 how do you like Using Mogulus ? Is it easy to use ?

I compared both Mogulus and Brightcove in the beginning. The reason I chose mogulus is because of its live broadcast function and user friendly interface which you can create a channel, grab contents, embed it on your page in 10 mins. It has good video quality and transmission. The only thing kind of annoy is that it now pop up a ads section on the screen since few weeks ago. I plan to try Brighcove on another site. Will share the experience later on. :]

do any of you guys who develop shoot your own videos? or does everyone just grab other stuff?

My goal is to generate my own contens, of course, it costs a lot. However, I believe unique content is the key of success for a .tv site.
