Parked Pages have lead to a distrust among the general population to typing in domain names. If a person types a name that enters their head, there's a very good chance they'll be taken to a non-descript webpage with no semblence of any direct information on what they are looking for.

This is eroding the enamel from domain name values and transferring the money into the bank of SEO.

While a good domain will always be viable, I'm calling for less parked pages now and in the future so that more and more people can type their interest into the web browser and actually be presented with a website on that topic.

Less Parked Pages in 2008-2009. Make it happen.

Parked pages don't necessarily have to lead to a poor user experience.

Typing in www.shoes.com and seeing a range of ads from footwear providers that sell shoes might be exactly what the user is looking for.

The danger is that when people develop sites (especially with an eye to SEO) they crap on a bit much and include too much irrelevant information. Eg the developed shoes.com might have sections on "History of Shoes", "About shoes.com" etc when all the user wants is to buy a pair of shoes.

Saying that though, on the whole, if sites are developed with user in mind they will beat parked pages from a user POV. Just takes time....
