I've been watching the Decentralization.com domain auction for the last few days and created a poll here yesterday to get everyone's opinion on what they thought it would close for.

This would be a great name for a blockchain or crypto platform to start up on. I'm sure there are a lot of people in that space who would love to own this domain name.

What are your thoughts on Decentralization.com?

The core of the blockchain is the distributed ledger. "Decentralization" is indeed very suitable for the blockchain industry.

IMO, I will not choose this domain for my business brand name. The only thing you can use Decentralization.com is a re-direct. That as a main site will get spammed... because the word is too general as @Bob Hawkes said above.

great name relevant to current techs.

it sold for an okay price for everyone imo.

with virus now, sale prices for any names imo shouldn't be used as guidelines... for the other more normal times... these are special times.. affecting every person and industry. doamining sales prices or industry are not somehow magically immune to virus. and are affected as well.

this is very nice domain. it has only the length not going for it.. but there are many 2 word names etc that are long too.

just when comes to 1word domains.. this is a bit long.

decentralize, com is or would be a much more valuable name, for this niche.

cheers

long word; but actual word ubiquitous with cryptocurrency

i voted 10-15k in ideal environment

sounds like seller got a discount

If the word UBIQUITUS, sound elegant.
BUT, there is "OU" ๐Ÿ˜…

Well I voted $5k to $10k so I am delighted that the sale proved my ability to predict prices :xf.grin:. in fact I score 100% in all price prediction polls I have entered in the last 48 hr. I consider myself truly an appraisal monster :-P (some who follow closely one of my posts last few days may get the hidden message in my choice of wording, and no it has nothing to do with Rob).

I agree it is possibly a slightly low price for the domain name, but I think it is within range of what might be expected. I don't know domain sales in niche much. I know decentralization is a huge trend, but is the word too general, perhaps, for some possible end uses? Not sure - just throwing that out there.

But a nice name that I am sure will end up in meaningful end use by someone.

Bob
Agree with you Bob! A major point here is, directly or indirectly, every new concept in the world is moving towards "Decentralization". That is the base of every new concept we are hearing. So if you think that way, this domain is worth much more than even $10k itself. I think sometimes certain terms are so wide and generic in nature that they do need further narrowing down, especially for domain names. Maybe that's the case with this one.

The buyer got a good deal.

In a few years, if developed, this name could be worth way, way more. It will likely increase its value considerably even if it remains undeveloped.

In terms of 16-letter single word domains, this one seems to be among the best to own right now.

I don't like decentralization or decentralized as a keyword because they are quite long. I only own one domain (FinanceDecentralized.com). But Decentralization alone is a powerful keyword with marketing power.

I think 5k to 15k is a fair price...just my take...

i like cryptos I have BLOKCHEIN.COM :) and Tockens.com

If you have toCkens and blockchEin - then you actually hate cryptos :xf.grin:

p.s. I was in the bidders list, but set $3.6k, which was eaten up quickly at the end :S

Great name, as we approach another crypto run, even $10k would be a bargain, as someone noted above - the prices were sky high during bull market, Crypto.com - $10m+, Voices.com - $30m, and the whole cryptocurrency space is about ' Decentralization '

I think it's a fairly fair price...pretty good value for the buyer. I was initially interested in the name as well, but I would prefer "Decentralized" if I have a start up in the space, sounds more modern and startup-y.

Decentralized technology
Decentralized finance
Decentralized internet
Decentralized market
etc...

"Decentralization" sounds more like an informational site, which in my view has less potential end user value.

Keyword trend graph below:
Red is for "decentralized"
Blue is for "decentralization"

Agree -- I own DecentralizedTechnology(.)com

...also, I've own Decentralization(.)co for a few years, so who knows!
