A declaration to NP and NP'rs
Hello Mods and Mems,
I don’t really know how to start this post so I'll begin by drawing you a picture.
It is a picture of a man who had seen far to many examples of the weaknesses within the human condition throughout his life. Weaknesses that left him deeply disappointed in the evolution of his species, and finding consolation in the fact he was entering the evening of his life and rather than the new day and would not have to watch again as selfishness, greed, cruelty, the inhumanity humans could inflict on each other for the slightest of reasons encompassed now as it had always done. Jaded and thick from watching his generation succumb to the prim oral instincts of we had declared so adamantly would never ruled our lives. And sad. Sad for those to come, the chore ahead and evident conclusion they will also find.
Pretty deep picture isn’t it, full of dark colors and unknown shadows.
That is where I was when Armstrong first posted about his cousin needing a donor and could we see what we could do, even just a little to help her.
So I decided I would try to effect the condition in my little part anyways and got involved... and truly believed with the resources available I could get this done, how hard can finding a donor be when we control the web.... we could spam this to every corner on the map. And the involvement brighten up the picture somewhat. Doing this made me happy. But it wasn’t as easy as I first thought.
Then I receive an email pleading that the matching donor hadn’t been found and time was running out. We should do whatever humanly possible to get the word out and find the ONE that might save her life. And that’s when I started breaking rules. Not just here at NP but anywhere I thought it would serve to get the job done.
I posted a thread in DND to support Apollo’s thread in Break Room announcing the email and the new urgency it implied. The reason was for exposure. Not everyone goes to the break room and DND was where it would reach the most members. I wasn’t a bit shocked when some members actually complained "Wrong Section" or "I am sick of seeing these help threads in the forum". See as stated above, I know how cold and self centered men can be if some annoyance disrupts their day. But I was in a hurry, I had several more rules to break that day and time was running out. Lots of work to do. No time at the moment to deal with these types. I just noted the posters in my mind, made a promise to myself, and went on with my criminal activities.
Now here comes the bond. Imagine my surprise when checking the next day and seeing that counter attacks flooded the thread , and that even as the uncompassionate tried to continue an attack and defend the position of cold hearted allegiance to only themselves and their interests, they were easily overrun and disposed of. And not only had the trash been taken out but the uproar had tripled the attention the post got and recruited dozens of people
that had only joined the thread because they were so appalled at its detractors.
And that was the day my faith in mankind was renewed. Seems a simple thing, doesn’t it... a bit of melodrama resolved in a way I didn’t expect would be taken care of without doing it myself, which I was fully prepared to do when I logged in the next morning. And I was loaded for bear. But low and behold... there was nothing for me to do but shake hands and try to find a job for all these new recruits.
That being said..............
I am unsticky'n this thread. There is a bond I have made with this thread that will never go away, but the specific topic is no longer pertinent.
I will leave a redirect to Armstrong’s thread where B33R has so capably kept everyone appraised on Christine’s condition for all these months.
Here is where I say thanks. And not just for the support of a simple thread. And not just for the generous offers of time and capital, thoughts and ideas to help us keep on trying to help her. And not just to the instigators, who by showing their true colors (a priceless gift all by itself), tripled the community involvement and went as far to be a pivotal moment in one particular members life where I watch him grow from a boy into a man.
Here is where I say thanks. Thanks to the members, thanks to the Staff, thanks to the Forum itself, but most of all thanks to Admin for being the original image that NamePros, we as NP'rs and the NP attitude are simply reflections of. And also that now, as if ever deemed possible, we have two Admins of the same caliber, and both examples of the best qualities within humans to set the measure to a higher standard.
Peace,
Cyberian
No, it's not about domains or domain names but plz dont move it...
It's about who we are, as a community, as NP'rs, as humans....
I received this email just now.... from Jacob, Christines boyfriend:
I edited it for this post, the full email will be in Armstrongs Thread
Dear friends of Christine,
We need your help.
Christine got the results of her latest scans, and the news is not
good. Things have gotten so critical that unless she finds a match within
the next 2-4 weeks, her only hope will be to move forward with the bone
marrow transplant anyway without a matching donor. This would mean an
extremely risky partial match transplant, with a very low chance of
survival.
We still have time to find a perfect match for Christine. But we need
your help now.
Here's a quick list of what you can do. Further information is
available by scrolling down in this email:
2) IF YOU CAN MAKE A CONTRIBUTION - Please do it today. We're
desperately trying to reach out to the Philippines to find a match for
Christine, but it's extremely expensive, and we can only do it with your help.
So please, make a donation if you can. All donations are TAX
DEDUCTIBLE.
To make a contribution, please click the link below

Or send a check payable to:

6) KEEP SPREADING THE WORD
We only have a few weeks left to find a donor for Christine. So please
help us by spreading the word! With your help, there's still a chance
to find a donor, so please help us today. For more information about
ways to help Christine, and answers to frequently asked questions, you
can visit Christine's website and forum:
www.savechristine.com
Enter the forum by clicking the "Forum" link on the upper right hand
corner of the website, or by clicking this link:

Thank you so much for your help. Information about how to retrieve
lost donor numbers is below. If you do not want to be included in future
emails about Christine, please DO NOT mark this message as spam. Just
respond to this email, and we will take you off the list.
With much gratitude,
Jake

Man this is it, it is now or never... and never is forever for Christine.
So please, do something...add the links to your sites, to your sigs, to your posts... THIS GIRL WILL DIE WITHOUT OUR HELP, sorry but thats the cold facts. We are the web, we are DOMAINERS, we build, we share, we know how to do this, it just takes a little time to do these things.
Its on now... lets get busy.
