Deadline for transfering away before expire?

I have a (very cheap) .com domain which I may not renew.
Please tell me, in general for most companies, or specifically for Namecheap:

• Can I transfer away with only one week remaining?
• Two weeks??
• or is less than 30 days, 'too late'???

Hello,

Transfers can sometimes take up to 8 days to process. As long as the
domain does not expire during the process, the transfer will be
successful.
In order to retrieve your EPP code, you will need to log into your
account and click on "Get EPP Code" on the right hand side menu.

The following are the ICANN transfer procedures for transfering
domains:

* Transfer verification must be made to the gaining registrar by the
domain's registrant and/or administrative contact(s). You need to make
sure that the correct email address is showing for the registrant and/or
administrative contact. If you have a privacy protection, this must
disabled.

* The domain must be at least 60 days old or not expired. The registry
prohibits expired domains to be transfered.

* Domain must be in "ACTIVE or OK" status. This means that you need to
make sure that the lock has been removed.

*All domains require an EPP code to be able to transfer successfully.
The authorization code is a 6- to 16-character code assigned by the
registrar. The auth code is basically a password for the domain. Auth
codes are an extra security measure, ensuring that only the owner of the
domain can make transfers.

* If a domain is transferred between registrars, ICANN's Transfer
Policy states no re-transfer of the domain is permitted for 60 days from the
date the transfer was complete, except in the case of dispute or legal
proceedings.
