Transfering domains

Hi, I am total beginner who wants to move 4 very valuable domains from Moniker to my new registrar. Whats the process involved? As far as I could understand I should request auth codes from Moniker and once I get them enter theem along with domain name in another registrar and start transfer. Is there any catch or something I must pay attention to, so I dont end up loosing my domains? Should I first change my email password since if someone else gets the code he can transfer too, right? What time is normal to wait to get auth code and once I submit to get domain transfered?

If your email password is already good, you don't need to change it.
Request for the auth code, and then follow the instruction on the new registrar side, 99% of them will follow you step by step with clear and easy instruction for each step.

After you complete everything, you will have to wait up to 6 days before to see the transfer completed. It's a standard waiting, some registrars are faster than others, but with Moniker i waited all the 6 days.

Our advice would be to:

• check that you domains can be transferred away - there is no Lock on the domain, it has not been registered/transferred in the last 60 days, you do not have any dues pending to your Registrar, you have disabled Domain Whois Privacy
• ensure that the Customer, Admin, Registrant contact email address are under your control and you have a strong password for them.
• retrieve your Auth code from Moniker
• place Transfer with new Registrar and approve transfer mails sent by the new Registrar as well as review mails sent by Moniker

The transfer should not take more than 10 days. Best of luck!
