Ironically, I heard someone say that Dan had been working on a team which was trying to redesign and add safety features to Indy cars for 2012 - including something that would make them less likely to launch on impact...

Horrible accident - very sad .

Very sad, he was the Earnhardt of Indy racing. Sad to see such a great racer but even more humble and intriguing husband/father.
