Dan Migration And The Headache of Dealing With Godaddy/Afternic Payment Delays.

As the death of Dan draws close, I have never liked the acquisition of Dan by Godaddy because I know how they handle a lot of things.

I sold a domain name over a week ago and submitted an auth code to Afternic to complete the transfer and subsequent payment. As of the time of posting this, I have no clear idea when funds will be released to me, and attached to this post is their most recent reply to me.

I have had to reach out to them for an explanation but it has always been the usual robotic response when they don't have a given timeframe to resolve an issue.

In all my years of using Dan.com, there hasn't been any need to hold funds beyond 3 days because payment has been instant. With the coming of Godaddy replacing them after the acquisition, there is no doubt that instant payment will be a thing of the past.

Also if you sold a domain name with 60 days lock period, you will have to wait out that 60 days before you can transfer the domain name or get paid by Godaddy. This is one of the reasons I do not fancy this acquisition and I do hope we have another Dan.com to help us solve this kind of problem in the coming months.

I have the same problem. Sold a domain on Afternic on Friday and it transferred out the same day.

No update on disbursement schedule. Just got off the phone with my VIP Account Executive at GD and he's looking into it and what's the hold up.

Everything is dead slow at Afternic and it's just going to get even slower as more imported Dan domains flood into the system.

Being an Afternic broker sounds like fun!

Seems to be many people here are getting the same problems with Afternic.
