Afternic Payment Delays – Manual Transfer & Fast Transfer (My Recent Experience)

I wanted to share my recent experience with Afternic payouts and see if others are running into the same issues.

Recently, I sold two domains through Afternic:
  • PiratePita.com – sold via manual transfer
  • Visitations.org – sold via Fast Transfer
Both domains have already transferred successfully, yet I’m still waiting on the payouts. It’s frustrating because:
  • Even the Fast Transfer, which is supposed to be smooth and instant, is experiencing delays.
  • Support keeps saying the “Transaction Assurance team” is reviewing, but that can drag on for days.
  • Compared to Dan.com before the migration, payments were much quicker and more reliable.
Delays in both manual and fast transfers raise concerns especially when cash flow is important for investors reinvesting into their portfolios.

Has anyone else noticed that after the Dan → Afternic migration, payment delays have gotten worse?
Would love to hear your timelines and experiences.

How long before you consider the payment to be delayed?

I have not noticed any delays. My location is in the US - maybe location of buyer/seller can be a factor in payout duration?
My most recent sale was a Manual Transfer
8/18 - domain sold
8/19 - I provided AUTH codes for the transfer
8/19 - domain transfer went and received an email payment was scheduled
8/20 - 8/21 (overnight I guess), the money hit my account

EDIT to add all of my sales have been .COM

How fast your payout is depend on buyer payment method.
Credit card or paypal mostly delay, they avoid reverse/charge back.
Wire transfer or local bank transfer, they schedule payout immediately.

Congrats on your sales, @nexusforge! For your Fast Transfer sale, the purchase was just a few hours ago. Based on Whois, this appears to be a Premium Network Fast Transfer sale (rather than a sale that took place at GoDaddy), so it will follow the standard process for those types of sales.

For your manual transfer sale, your payout is already scheduled, which you'll see within your UI.

Since the Dan.com migration, their automation is now integrated within Afternic’s Transaction Assurance system. While we’re pleased to see the smooth experiences shared across the community, we’re continuously improving the process to make payouts even quicker and more predictable.

Thanks for sharing your timeline. That’s definitely much quicker than what I’m experiencing. Maybe location or even transaction type could be factors mine are still stuck in review even after transfer completed.

I have not noticed payment delays, but they seem to have an issue with their back-end regarding certain transfers. I sold a domain (a nGTLD) almost 3 weeks ago at Afternic and provided the authorization code immediately. So far they haven't been able to initiate the transfer and they mentioned that their higher support team is working on it.
That’s rough 3 weeks is a long time. Sounds like they’re struggling more with nGTLDs than .COMs. Hopefully their backend issues get sorted soon

Good point! payment method might explain the difference. Mine could be stuck in review because of that. Appreciate the insight.

@GoDaddy @Afternic Thanks for jumping in here! When I first saw your reply it mentioned the manual transfer for piratepita.com payout being scheduled for Monday, but now it looks like the post was edited just to confirm, should I still expect it on Monday, or has that changed? And for the Fast Transfer sale (Visitations.org), I’ll keep an eye on the timeline, but would be good to know roughly how long Premium Network Fast Transfers usually take to pay out after the domain has already transferred.

@GoDaddy @Afternic

As of today (September 2nd in Pakistan / end of September 1st in the US), I still do not see:
  • Visitations.org (Fast Transfer): No payout scheduled yet, even though the transfer has already completed on August 29th.
  • PiratePita.com (Manual Transfer): You previously mentioned the payout was scheduled for Monday Sep 1st, but I haven’t received confirmation or seen it hit my account.
Could you please confirm the expected payout dates for both sales? Since the transfers are already finalized, I would really appreciate clarity on when the funds will be released.

I also want to share a concern: I’ve noticed that on X (Twitter), you often repost sales announcements from other sellers, including smaller sales, when they tag you. Despite tagging you, my sales haven’t been acknowledged. This makes me feel like I’m being treated unfairly compared to other sellers, which is discouraging.

I value the platform and want to continue using it confidently, so I’d appreciate both confirmation on my payouts and some clarification regarding visibility and fairness on social channels.

Thanks for your support,

Update on Visitations.org (Fast Transfer) Payout

For transparency, I want to add that GoDaddy previously informed me that the payout for Visitations.org, which was sold via Fast Transfer, would be scheduled soon.

However, despite that assurance, I have now received communication suggesting the sale is being cancelled even though the domain was already transferred to the buyer on August 29, 2025, and the buyer has confirmed possession in writing.

Note: I have attached both pdfs of emails (email communication and client's confirmation of domain possession & the email i sent to transaction assurance team regarding unfair cancelation message and also they have not scheduled the payout for the other domain which was a manual transfer)

This contradiction between the earlier payout assurance and the recent cancellation notice is extremely concerning and raises serious questions about process consistency at Afternic/GoDaddy.

Your 'buyer' replies in 6 minutes, logs into his account, and makes screenshots that fast? Impressive speed!
Did he contact you even quicker since Visitations.org was deactivated by Dynadot?
