discuss Dan.com Inboud offer - Sounds fake ?

Scenario :
Received an inbound offer (from India)
Me : Offer rejected
Me : Counter offer sent
Buyer : offer accepted few hours later.

No news about payment after 3 days.
Fake buyer ?

Reminds me of when I bought the Afternic listing of 99C.com for 50$ last week and had to be refunded because the seller "couldn't give the auth code for confidential reasons".

Besides time wasted, these fake offers ruin good mood (softly speaking). So I’ve completely disabled the makeOffer functionality at DAN.

Now I only get happy emails from DAN:
Buy Now -> Payment Received -> Select Transfer option.

It has happened to me twice at Dan .
Offer counter offer accept but
My first and second sale never happened Cancelled.
But then last month a misspell sold threw Dan .
So my third sale became my first sale .
But I was told misspells are a no no .
So I am no help. Cheers .

They claim they block repeat offenders. I like DAN but you have to deal with alot of low ballers and fake offers. I never accept an offer or counter. I make a buy it now with lowest I will accept and tell them it’s available if they are interested.

Almost 85% of the world is under lockdown, and you expect lumpsome of sales? Many countries have broken systems. If someone has to do a large transaction they have to goto bank directly,. I dont know why you blame someone for some country's mistake, or show some country in bad light. Don't expect sales unless you convince them personally over phone, or email why they have to rip their purse open in an emergency to pay some random guy far abroad. He scratched your back, and you did the same. Guess, both of you are even on that. Don't expect sales like this, seriously.

same here. It's a waste of time to receive dozens of offers everyday, finding the right price for the right buyer by the end he accepts but never pay...
that's why I put a BIN only and a minimum offer at BIN price.

Reading through this thread reminds me of my first fake buyer on Sedo about 13 or 14 years ago. When there was no progress on the agreed negotiated price I contacted Sedo and was given the address of the supposed buyer - a bus stop in Abuja, Nigeria. LOL

Unfortunately fake bids from fake buyers are nothing new nor will the likelihood of them ending anytime in the next century be high.

Happens all the time there unfortunately. You can ask them to cancel the transaction and relist after 48 hours.

i think the crucial part of dan prevention of fake (although we shoudl just prolly call them nonpaying) buyers, is to ban them. which they say they already do.

gd auctions has nonpaying buyers too. as does sedo. but its much less common there than on dan. i guess there are some reasons for that
