Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

You really seem to deal in hyperbole. I don't think things are quite as bad in reality as they are in your mind.

When push comes to shove most people are just going to be vaccinated. They will take their being a non-conformist pain in the ass to the limits, then capitulate when it would actually effect them in a negative way.

Inconveniences or incentives are enough to convince the vast majority of people to do the right thing for society.

Yep … my Capitalist ass will NEVER take the covid - 19 vaccine … but I will spend my money not to have to .. I have already spent many thousands of dollars on all this bullshit .. lawyer fees .. stuff for home to make it self containable if necessary .. Don't worry, if upheld, states can now use the Texas abortion framework to use private citizens to enforce Unconstitutional laws civilly, including gun laws and anything else.

The key is just don't put any legal enforcement mechanism, just a civil one for people to harass and intimidate others. Be careful what you wish for.

Cool. It means other states can pass laws that violate current Constituitonal rights, with no legal enforcement mechanism, and use private citizens to enforce it civilly.

Works for me. I don't think the GOP will realize what it unleashed. I don't want to hear any complaining when other states use the same framework to target whatever.

Under the exact same framework another state could mandate a vaccine, provide no legal enforcement mechanism, and give anyone else (not even in that state) standing to sue the other party civilly for violating it.

Regardless of how you feel about abortion itself, the underlying framework of the Texas law is absurd. You can't have a law that has no legal enforcement mechanism, and gives standing to unrelated & uninjured third parties. It could be abused in so many creative ways.
