Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

A recognition that government institutions—including those entrusted with protecting our health, preserving our liberties and overseeing our national security—need to be staffed with experts (not political loyalists), that decisions need to be made through a reasoned policy process and predicated on evidence-based science and historical and geopolitical knowledge (not on Trump-ian “alternative facts,” political expediency or what Thomas Pynchon called, in Gravity’s Rainbow, “a chaos of peeves, whims, hallucinations and all-round assholery”). Instead of Trump’s “America First” foreign policy, we need to return to multilateral diplomacy, and to the understanding that co-operation with allies—and adversaries, too—is especially necessary when it comes to dealing with global problems like climate change and viral pandemics.

South Korea’s infectious disease experts said Thursday that dead virus fragments were the likely cause of over 260 people here testing positive again for the novel coronavirus days and even weeks after marking full recoveries.

Oh Myoung-don, who leads the central clinical committee for emerging disease control, said the committee members found little reason to believe that those cases could be COVID-19 reinfections or reactivations, which would have made global efforts to contain the virus much more daunting.



This is a HUGE relief if conclusively proven.

Hard to believe Walmart was so careless with the well-being of its employees and the public. I wonder how many other employees, family members of employees, and customers will also contract the virus.

I cant even wrap my head around how little precautions were being taken at the few I visited (haven't been in one in 6 weeks) when all this got started.

Masks are virtually useless to prevent getting it (requires M95 or higher with gel seal or military grade NBC) but they are immensely important to keep someone from spreading it when they breathe/cough/sneeze. Visitors to these high volume stores should have been required to wear a mask (handkerchief at least) or not enter. Period.

Yes you are right that boosting immune system is the best and natural remedy instead of any vaccine. But sometimes it is necessary for some illnesses and diseases where a strong immune system is not enough. Also people from certain countries have less immunity than others mainly because of their eating habits and also the climatic conditions there . for e.g. Europe, USA where the people do not have enough spice in their food and the cold conditions there do not help. As you know any virus thrives in cold conditions. So vaccine still has a role to play.
