In the "Free Resorces" forum here, Dave had posted a free AOL e-mail, To where you can get a domain after @ , As your e-mail addy, I signed up, I couldn't get [email protected] , Because i own Alldeleted.com and it shows registered ofcourse, So i got [email protected], Now, It shows AllDeleted.net registered when checking, I typed in the name, It took me to AOL , And said "You have Reached The Page Of an AOL e-mail user, I was amazed, Alldeleted.net is not registered, Not by a human person any way-LOL....So think of this, If alot of people sign up for that AOL e-mail, They use names that are not registered, That is the only way you get a specific e-mail addy with that service, Only if the name is not regged, Then those domain names that people are using for the AOL e-mail, Are not available to be registered? see www.AllDeleted.net

Any thoughts on how this may really mess the registry up??

I am not a big fan of people registering domains for free to use as an email service like some providers I know do. However, if the person pays for the domain, then you cannot really complain to much. At least someone is benifiting from the domain they have registered because they actually want it. I know tons of people who already ruined tons of nice domains by just registering them and only using them for a parking page. So, as long as the person is paying for the domain, you can't really complain to much. Because the same goes on already where people register domains they dont need and let them just sit there or try to make money off of them. That is all part of what everyone does here at namepros. People register domains every day and then try to turn around and sell them to someone who really needs it.

Here is the problem, I chose Alldeleted.net , Paid nothing, And the name shows registered, It is now owned by "AMERICA ONLINE, INC. DBA AOL AND/OR COMPUSERVE-AOL" They now own the .net of my AllDeleted.com Should i file a UDRP >:(

Microsoft is doing a service like this as well where you can register a domain for free. I dont really like it to be honest because whats to stop someone from going on a spree of using up all the domains for free to be a jerk. Then they say its your name but it really isnt since AOL or Microsoft ends up being the domain registrant usually if your getting it free. Someone ends up paying for the domain in the end. :)
