Dynadot

discuss Cost was $19.95 to get a 100k counter-offer on Dispensary.Best

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
So I go to Dynadot and see dispensary.best is for sale, not via Dynadot.com but thru DomainAgents.com

So I pay the required $19.95 fee to domainagents to handle my offer to buy dispensary.best

So the owner rejects my mid-3 figure offer with a $100,000 counter-offer! Is the name that good?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You can buy the best name "CannabisShop.best" for cheaper price, just saying! 🤷‍♂️
Yup, or cannashops.best or cannastores.best or a ton of other ones. $2.75 each.

Crap..... even MapleDots.best is still available..... I'm shocked
Go for it @MapleDots - you so often say you just have 1 new gTLD. Come on, double your portfolio! :-P
(not serious, I see a limited market potential for MapleDots.... I mean what is a Maple Dot anyway, a splatter of maple syrup? :xf.grin: Or are you way ahead of us and plan to sell it to a Canadian quantum dots startup?
You do know that maple.cash is available to handreg, no premium? If you are only adding one new gTLD I would take that one!)

surely you could just buy dispensaries dotcom with 100k? Or at least BestDispensaries.com

It's people looking to pick up prescriptions, they are not going to drive far to get it.
Yeh true, it's difficult enough just to get off the sofa :xf.smile:

Yeah, I'd say since the .com was registered today 4/11/2019, there is a very low probability the term has high value. ............

That was sharp of you spotting that registration from today. Who here will admit getting it, which was a nice new reg and should get in the April contest? BTW, I like dispensary.best more than new reg dispensarybest.com but far far than 100k more!

Cyril.Best has reported a $1,000,000 offer on the pair.
I can price any of my domains in 1M, even in 100M. Damn, look in our Sale section, some delusional folks really do it. But this won't increase a real domain VALUE even for a cent.

Yeah, I'd say since the .com was registered today 4/11/2019,

I would let it expire if i got it for free. The seller like most new domainers wanted to get rich with a single domain so the counter. And as much as it may be worth mid three figure to you, it's not that great to me. Just saying.

I definitely see 2 potential buyers for DispensaryBest.com, the OP here and owner of Dispensary.best. And would say it’s worth more than reg. fee, between $19.95 and $100k, right? GoDaddy appraisal and comparable sales were higher than I would’ve thought too.

I have the same view if best is used in the domain, or an extension, as Bob Hawkes said, see below. If used in the name i.e. BestDispensary.com it works great in the correct word order but DispensaryBest.com does NOT work for me because it is backwards so I would have no interest buying or even hand reg'ing it.

The word 'best' in extension indicates or implies words in front of the dot are the "best of" i.e. the best dispensary. So that means I would pay mid to high 3 figures for dispensary, best but pay nothing for dispensarybest.com because at is contrary to my game plan.

P.S. I am not saying the GD valuation tool is wrong, only saying the format does not follow my game plan so worth nothing to me but it may have good value to others.

........However, if you view .best like .com or .org or .ca, as an appendage that is not really part of the name but rather providing a vague indication of the time of name) then the order is not relevant. In this case .best is saying this is somehow a "best of" type of review/comment/reference site, just like .ca is telling me it is a Canadian based name and .org is telling me it is some sort of organization. I think .best can be interpreted either way (stand alone or as part of domain phrase) but we should not confuse the two. Bob

This is I think on topic with the original of this thread. I have never used a service like DomainAgent or similar from other companies. I want to learn more. What exactly do they do for the $19.95. Do they simply send to the Whois contact (if they can get that through a subscription service) or lacking that the cloaked contact through registry a message asking how much the owner wants for the domain name, and then conveys that information to you, or do they do something else?

Bob

PS Added question - Why do people who want to sell a domain name not have a lander so prospective clients can contact them? If all domains had landers it seems the service would not be necessary. Is it simply to not be bothered with frivolous inquiries?

or if they have no experience negotiating domains.
Thank you for the very informative answer, @Windoms! I can see that some who do not wish to negotiate directly a sale would rather the offer came in from a service like that, and there is the security of dealing with a person from a company that you know. So for some at least it is like having a broker, but for a domain priced at a level normally a broker would not handle. So if they are not able to secure the domain name, you still pay the fee, is that right?

Thank you for your reply and clarification, @DT13
too many fake numbers
If I might respectfully suggest if your problem is with numbers, respond specifically to the numbers you object to, rather than make claims that a NPs member must be paid as you did in the post I objected to...
I think people are paid here to tell nonsense stories about .best

I think there is a lesson here for all of us. It not only is unfair to the person, but also simply ineffective to making your argument, to call names, post derogatory meme images, or claim someone is being paid or dishonest.

It is totally appropriate to respond to make sure that anyone reading a thread has a balanced picture. Smart people legitimately have different views on many things in domains. Hearing all voices is valuable. But please, everyone, let us all express those via making arguments about the topic, and not be personalizing.

Have a good day everyone, and thanks again for responding, @DT13.

Bob
