I am brand new to the domain selling game. I've recently purchased altcoinpost.com from 1&1 domains, and am looking to sell it (An altcoin is an alternative to Bitcoin, definitely a niche market but an active one) How do I go about getting this domain sold?

question: What told you that the domain you bought would sell? If it was so good of a domain that others would want to buy it then why was it not registered already? You dont just buy a domain and then turn around and say ok who wants it....there is so much more to it.

I have a "trick", it's actually the only one that works in this industry.
Strive to get the best domains, or at least great domains that people want. Not just any random, just registered domain !
Then the end users will come to you and make unsolicited offers.

Well the market is relatively new (really only picked up second half of last year). My current plan is to turn it into a news site for altcoins for six months and see if I can get some traffic too it. Then, sell the site as a news site. There are few reputable altcoin news site so if I can spend a few months posting at least one reputable article a day, I'm hoping to be able to sell the site with the increased traffic.

That is different. Selling a site and selling a domain are like apples and oranges. I can have the domain name "fingerbingerpumkinpatchiraq.com" and as a domain its shit. If I build a site and it gets 25,000 hits a month they are still not buying the "domain name" but they are buying the website. So it sounds like you are a website flipper NOT a domain flipper.

Why don't you go through domain sales reports every week.. visit namebio.com. That gives you an idea of what sells and what doesn't. Also read dnjournal domain sales report every week.
If you are a newbie, Just stick to "exact match domains" ... a .com is preferable.

Thanks, I will look through those links. Is this a good place to get information about website flipping? if it isn't, where can i go to find a place? Google doesn't seem to bring up any good forums for website flippers.

Agreed with Nattydomain, most domain names are most likely to be unsellable (specially those non .com (but is not impossible )). First of all, place ads that the domain is for sale both on the page and other domain selling forums such as this, flippa, sedo, etc. Then update and optimize WHOIS, if you are lucky, bargain good!

Make sure that your domain is something that can be bought in good price.
