Hey guys

for christmas i got a computer, mainly to play games on cause thats what i do...

Its a p4 3.4 ghz
1 gb ram
Ati Radeon x300/se
250 gb hd

at the start when i got the comp i could play any game with the highest graphics settings and get no lag at all, but now even when i put the gfx settings on the lowest i still get terible lag.

Ive searched for viruses,spyware and all that crap.
Ive even reformatted my hd and it didnt do anything.
Whats going on?

what temp has it been running at?
does it every shut off on you during games? or does it just go slow?

Check if your graphic card fan is still working.

How do i check the temperature my video card is running at? and my hd is nowhere near being full (214 gb free space)

and i have the latest drivers of everything

I would uninstall and then reinstall your drivers and/or vid card. Hopefully that will work. Otherwise, if you want to go all out, you can always reformat and start over from scratch.

Maybe use a older driver or do a system restore.

The other thing that just came to mind is that your vid card may be loose or not pushed into the pci slot (assuming the vid card isn't integrated, which from your description it appears it isn't, into the mobo) all of the way. Open up your case (while the comp is off) and make sure the vid card is pushed in all of the way.

I have the latest drivers, ive already done a system restore and reformatt, and i have checked if its loose. but nothing

Question is how good is this vid card? Did you even state what it was?

Did you double check if your computer is running off your vid card and not your integrated video on your mobo?

Ahhh, Fonzie, that is a beautiful thought. You would have to disable the onboard video in order for it to work. I am cringing at this thought. I see he has a p4...plus (most) AMD boards are too leet for built in video.
