Netregistry.com.au is popular and priced at $44.95 /2years for .com.au's
You do need an Australian business number to register one however.

Hi RedHippo,

At $66 ( AUS ) for 2 years http://concordnet.com.au are not the cheapest but I can recommend them without reservation.

Also if you are not in Australia they can arrange all the paperwork, including a registered company ( to suit yours ) and a local agent so it is all legit.

Just ask for Brett there and tell him DomainSage ( Richard ) sent you :)

All the best.

Richard, could you please explain how that might work and the secondary costs involved? (local agent, etc.)

The 'local agent' would then own the domain wouldn't it? You'd be leasing it right?

Hi,

You would have to contact them to find out the actual costs involved.

Basically the only way for someone not residing in Aus to get a .com.au domain is to have a company out there.

Now anyone can have a company registered in Aus, but it has to have some physial presence ... For example an office. Or you can have an authorized 'agent' to represent you out there.

You would own the company and domain, the agent really just acting as a sort of registered office. Although this is probably not going to be an option for people that just want to buy and sell domains it does allow full companies ( or individuals ) to have a presence in Aus.

Hope that helps a bit.

All the best.

Richard

Thanks DomainSage for the response. You have helped me a great deal in regard to the legal situation regarding .com.au

[BFT I believe also offers .com.au registration btw]
