Chrome's built-in Adblocker launching on the 15th of February

This is what caught my attention:
It’s important to note that some sites affected by this change may also contain Google ads. To us, your experience on the web is a higher priority than the money that these annoying ads may generate—even for us.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
@MapleDots - Nope. That's not allowed. It used to be years ago.

I think you can still do it with Yahoo though.

The only way you could allow parked pages would be to whitelist: http://www.google.com/adsense/domains/caf.js

That way all parking pages would work in ublock.

Yes, we do keep track of it. Who wouldn't. It's just not a perfect science. Let me explain why. If you have AdBlock Plus installed, we have some scripts that load on the page that tell us whether somebody has AdBlock Plus installed or not. But those same scripts can't detect Ublock, because Ublock doesn't load either of them. It's like a game of cat and mouse.

So it's no as simple as just saying this loaded and this didn't, so they are using an adblocker.

As I already said,
it's one thing for people like you (ie. computer literate) to use adblockers and a completely different thing for everyone to use an adblocker.

We are talking about the most commonly used browser coming with an adblocker built-in (using the easylist which afaik blocks parked pages).

So far, only a certain % used adblockers (which imo it was low enough as to not affect parking much)..but now, if G blocks its own ads by default, well.. I don't even want to think about it.

yes... that woudl be awful. I have some bucks invested in revenue domains too so I do not want to loose it.. and I know tons of people still make huge parkign revenues per month etc..
yourself also I am sure you are not bringing up this whole issue because you make $10 per month form park revenue.

so this would be awful.

I am not sure how the new setup will work. all I know is I use the most common adblocked extension for chrome now.. and I still see my ad. that's without modifying the extension.. just default settings. so I am not sure I folow when you say there is difference between me using this adblocker and somoene who knows less about computers. I think end result should be same.. and both I and they see the parked page okay. sorry if I missed something.

but for future.. I am not sure.. but you are not the only one with interest in park revenue.. cause your parking company has even more intereat in making money.. so I am hoping they wil adjust things accordingly to eliminate or minimize damage

You are correct, I am an advanced user but I aslo set up my parents, my grandparents, my kids, my business, my inlaws etc. They all use the same setup and I had to do it because the regular adblockers like adblock plus got nag screens to white list. So guys like me are setting up a to of people because we keep getting complaints that the nag screens are interfering with the adblockers.

So far my combination has not been blocked by forbes.com and bild.de which have the most ferocious adblocker blocking campaign out there. The combo used gets through anything.

I have probably set up over 200 computers with this set up and placed countless tutorials on other forums.

If everything went back to the old google ads text scripts then there would be no issues but videos, pop up, pop unders, nag screens, windows without an x to close. Holy crap, my parents are elderly and my 10 year old son is telling them to install uBlock.

I think the percentage is higher than what you think it is.

maybe @Donny can comment on all this? at least vis a vis VOODOO site.

or @TroyBodis

I don't think @ParkingCrew comes around here as much as those 2 guys.

Mine looks the same as MapleDots and I'm using uBlock Origin as well.

Matter of fact, most landing pages / parked pages with ads I don't see at all. Only pages like Undeveloped work for me (and similar)

This will make your uBlock even better and get you past paywalls and ALL nag screens.

Follow the instructions

Google ads are a breeze to set up with full tutorials and a landing page can easily be made via a ton of freeware on the web.

Do Google allow LPs without content?

What do you mean without content?
What is the point of a landing page if you dont advertise your domains?

Google ad income comes second to actually selling a domain.
The ads can be put toward renewals but don't expect to get rich from them. :xf.smile:

Has anyone noticed any adblocking today on your Chrome?

On my 64.0.3282.167 Chrome, I noticed that every ad is working normally.. even those terrible ZeroClick ads.

Moreover, I searched for any new setting related to adblocking but found none.

how do you check if zero click ads work? I don't wanna go there cause maybe they think I view my own ads :)

just visiting once won't cause any issues

@MapleDots
my Chrome got updated a few hours ago and, considering that a lot of sites mentioned the adblock was in, I assumed it was.

I'm not a Chrome user so I have no idea how I can get access to the 'site content settings' . I don't see that option on the 'Settings' menu.

from chrome, visit chrome://settings/content

then search for blocked / popups

still eager to have a reply from anyone behind a major parking service

I'm not sure if a landing page advertising a domain would count as content in Google's eyes.

Obviously not.
Content means a minimum amount of words (300) + external links + images and so on.
Landing page IS NOT content.

Depends on whose landing page :xf.grin:

I don't think I will be using chrome anyway..too many eyes spying but anyway.

@alcy you parked page lyz co is gone with my FF set up ( much easier and less advanced ) so I would say that parking is going to die more and more

can you try to surf on Forbes.com and tell us what do you see with your setup?

i hope parking companies will adopt something similar...
if you have adblock you don't see the website unless you disable it... so people will try to disable it and they will see ads... or maybe they will just go away because they are scared.

anyway many website are able to stay online thanks so ads.. if they stop to earn from ads they will shut down so surely some reaction will be taken, imho

I see Forbes but without ads :xf.smile:

uBlock gets around this no issue, with the link I previously posted it gets around most paywalls too. It wont take long for ad blockers to adapt. It's like when someone adds a script to protect an image, you can disable right click all you want, if I download the page I get the image. In rare cases I have seen secondary scripts that changed the .jpg to something else but in the end all I have to do is take a screenshot and I have the image.

Nothing can be done, if its out there it will be a cat and mouse game and the ONLY way advertisers will ever succeed is to go with basic text ads. I will block all other ads, especially websites that put the same add 8 times on a page, once as a banner, twice as a big box ad etc.

Be polite with ads and I will be polite as a consumer. Flash at me and try to distract me from what I am doing and I will block it.

REMEMBER, IF ALL ELSE FAILS IN THE AD WARS....
Simply use a browser that displays only text.

Maple what do you see on Forbes with ublock?

I see nothing, I get right past the nag screen, I see no ads of any kind.
Mind you I have a script running that prevents pages from asking me to deblock them as well.

I also get past paywalls very easily.

thanks for trying lyz co for me

apparently voodoo acording to @Donny has better ad whitelisting somehow... so I'm gonna put lyz co on voodoo now..

can you guys try it for me? ty
PC lander and voodoo are the same from my end.. they fail adblock test equally.

edit: i mean, if PC lander is blocked, also voodoo ones are

Note that Donny talked about Chrome's adblock specifically not adblocks in general.
Adblocks (excluding Chrome's where we don't know what will happen yet) block ALL ads in parked domains or not

well... even at this moment.. it makes one wonder jsut how much money we're losing due to blockers when parking... and apparently this is just goign to get worse in future...

not best news when I was getting more comforable with learning more about parkign.. revenue domains and what not..

perhaps our fellow np member and with solid parking knowledge can also give his view on future of parking, adblockers.. etc... that'd be really appreciate... @smurge
