China .CN Domain Outlook

I have looked around and I see a lot of talk about people trying to sell or wanting to renew some domains, but I don't see much discussion on why .cn domains are so popular or why they will do well.

So How does .CN compare to .US or .IN or even .EU for that matter?
What type of words are popular for .CN?

.cn or .in domains are not popular as .com .net .info as far as i know
i tried to buy a domain but the name is not availabale for any tlds except .cn domain so i am willing to buy that one

I see ASCII.cn taking a nosedive once IDNs become mainstream with the release of IE7. Why would Chinese folks type in computer.cn when they could type in 计算器.cn or 计算器.中国?

However, there will be some use for ASCII.cn. Namely Chinese companies that want to promote their business to non-Chinese.

1. High reg fee for foreign registrars.
2. Low reg fee but of big hassle when push or transfer .cn through Chinese registrars.
3. Even though, .cn is getting quite popular in these 3 years within China, as far as I can see from Chinese domain forums.
According to CNNIC, there are almost 1,200,000 .cn registered so far.
