I'm used to dreamhost, hostgator and lunarpages, for their cheap and nice shared hosting.

Now I got many small wordpress sites and I want to merge them using wordpress 3.0 multisite option. And I use some plugins that use too much CPU for standard shared hosting.

The problem is that shared hosting companies don't let you use domain wirdcards and hate you if you use more CPU than usual.

Do I need a VPS? (I need about 3giga web space and 8giga bandwitht) to try all my CPU eating process without problems?

Or should I look for different shared hosting?

vps/dedicated servers is the best option. :)

But I can't find VPS from big companies with very low (like 10 or 20 gb bandwidth).

I Would suggest VPSGuys.com You could talk to sales and See if you could get a custom vps. Just remember you need about 512 to push cpanel and not lock up.

I think that low end VPS would be more then enough for you to get started

Given those numbers, for Wordpress, if you're using a cache plugin, shared hosting should do the job just fine.

A small VPS will probably fit your needs too, but you'll end up paying $15+ per month needlessly, because a VPS comes with overhead.

I think that $15 per month is not a fortune at all for good low end VPS which will make you independent.
