Hey -RJ- and staff, do you guys think you can set-up a charity ribbon for the victims of hurricane Katrina? I know its not as easy as it sounds but if you do get it up i'll buy one and im sure many more would too.

What do you guys think?

No Offense But there have been worse calamities... but a ribbon to show suppot might be nice

However No Matter how small... a calamity is a calamity, and we should hold the devastated people in out hearts.

True..
When you think about the fact: http://www.sun.com/one/video/20050420_60_lo.wmv

every 3 seconds = (

still, i think a small ribbon would be a nice thing for any calamity!
If there is a way you can help a person in need, you should do it...(just my thought)

Katrina is now the worst thing that ever happened to US as far as I know in terms of weather, it's like having the whole New York and all of its suburbans gone :o Thousands died, so I guess the only help here would be buying Red Cross ones.

US Government Has alot of money to handle its problems (just my opinion) - And hopefully the people and cities and people will be able to recover.

Red Cross Ribon are a good idea! - Thats why I got mine!

BBC said:
In Mississippi, officials have warned the death toll is likely to climb above the current 110.

Not at the moment, it is only 110 but it could climb to over 1000

The 110 figure is from a couple of counties in Mississippi. Louisiana has chosen not to give out fatality rates for various reasons, not the least of which is they just don't know how many. The death toll is sure to reach 1000's when all is said and done.

I think the Red Cross is probably the best ribbon to do so. They are the ones that get in there and really help the victims...

I think its a Great idea ... :tu:

I would also like to say that a lot of people within our community may not have extra money or items to give at the moment - But we all do have a few things in common to Donate ....

1) We have advertising space on our websites to add extra links to the Red Cross ( www.RedCross.org ) or your choice of Assisting organizations and companies. It may not seem like much - But if you Get the message out in your visitors View ... it can help :)
2) Our Hopes and Prayers are Free to give at any time :tu:

on another note ... :|
- I do wish people would keep their opinions to themselves .... The US has done its fair share of assisting in times of crisis and stating that we have enough money to help ourselves seems a bit Senseless and In-Sensitive at a time like this. The Red Cross has stretched its resources to the limits in the past with other Hurricanes as well as the Asian Tsunami. We have members in the areas Hit hardest and to my knowledge - no one has heard from them yet. Is this the message you would want them to see If and When they log in again ?

"Us Has alot of money to handle its problems (just my opinion)" :td:

I know that when the Asian Tsunami hit, Target store corp. donated $10,000,000 while the government of Russia gave $1,000,000 :( now what should have more money, a very big country or a supermarket? :(

I think a ribbon might be a good idea :tu: ! But I'm not too sure about which charity. I think there is a Red Cross ribbon available so either we can buy that or get a new one for Katrina. It's -RJ-'s call :] .

I Could have many things to reply to with this post... but since it is about Chartiy, in that spirit ill let it pass...

I had meant the American Government, but your right, though logical it is insensitive. I fully support the Red Cross, and its worldwide efforts.

It is a terrible calamity... and the people who have been affected have my sympathy and support.

It's funny how the US is supposed to out donate everyone else anytime else there is a disaster but when things happen to us...

I have some personal connections to this horrible disaster and frankly I'm highly offended by some of the comments in this thread. There could be more than 10k dead by the end of it making it one of the worst disasters (if not the worst disaster) for America ever. People need help and I never want to hear one damn word about American's not caring ever again from some in this thread.

I'd like to go on but I hold deep respect for this board and won't deface it with my comments.

That being said, such a ribbon would be great!
