Different opinions still within around domainers are they 2 character domains or 3. I contend 3 because of the hyphen but still people say since most - are not seen in the search engines they are two.
Anyone else got any ideas?

I say they are technically three characters.. as a dash is technically a character.

However it can, technically be called a 2 letter DN or a 2 number DN..

Agree. The hyphen is a character and any that might say a L-L domain character is two characters are only be deceiving themselves and calling their own creditability into question. That's akin to saying xx9.com is a two character domain as I don't count numbers.

My $.02

Call it what you may but a L-L.com will not sell anywhere near what a LL.com sells for.
No getting around it though, a hyphen is a character, hence it is a 3 character domain.
I don't think you can call it a 2L domain any more than you can call ab123.com a 2L domain or 1234.com a 0L domain. You would be trying to fool yourself as to what type of domain you are dealing with by omitting portions of it.

Thats the way I see this.

Whatever you call them, they seem to have value, at least in some people's eyes.

I just watched the end of the Z-A.com auction on eBay. With about a minute to go, it was well under $1K; then a bunch of sniping took place, and at the end it went for $10,101!

z-a.com is fairly special in a way, as it designates the full alphabet where the hyphen is a necessary part...not as good as A-Z.com...but still nice.

That is abnormally high for a L-L.com.

When did this auction close-I completely missed this one?
Edit:Never mind I found it.
