Changing Registers during expiration

Hi guys/girls,

Just wanted to know what happen when you go to change registers when the domain is about to expire...

Example -- transfer from another register to godaddy and the domain will expire the next day - will the transfer still happen even though technically after the "grace period" it will be expired?

Depends on the losing registrar, but usually it's OK. It's allowed under ICANN. Most registrars follow ICANN. But of course you should never get yourself in the position of leaving it so late

Depends also on gaining registrar. Namecheap for example, will not let you order a transfer-in, if the domain has less than 7 days remaining.

Hey thanks for that... Normally I don't leave it as late... however I did this time, it's going with godaddy from another register... so hopefully it should be right, the problem is if I renew them both at the other register they want $88 a year each.... and godaddy is only $20.99 (with discount code) each... so that's why I've moved lol, it's just I don't wanna lose them, they are pretty good with the ICANN rules from the losing register... I just I'll just wait and see... otherwise I'll have to pay a late fee to get it back I guess...
