Is it possible to beat a drop catcher?

How fast are the drop catching sites? (Snapnames, etc)?

If I, for example, just keep on trying to register a domain name.. Could I do it manually before a automatic drop catcher gets it? (Manually using GoDaddy, for example.)


Are there any faster sites to register a domain manually, besides the "Express Buy" on GoDaddy? For example, where you have all your payment info on file and it registers it immediately when you hit Register?

Registrars have direct access to the registry database and can snap a domain within milliseconds of its drop. You just can't beat that, unless you're a registrar.

They have the fastest networks and parallelize as much as they can. They can also make special deals, for example snapnames has a special deal with networksolutions to get privileged access to their data. And who knows how many more shady deals in the background. This is hard to go against.

I still have a theory about specific weak point of theirs which I never tested, but I don't think anyone would give you that information here for free. I also don't think I would be the only one with the idea so I doubt my idea would even work. Whoever can beat them, could make millions.

In 2001 and 2002 I beat them manually. I think there was some kind one click registration at dotster/namewinner. Certain drops they couldn`t catch back then, godaddy etc..

After that its basically waste of time to do anything manually. You can`t beat them, even with yoru scripts etc..

sometime you can, if you know how to! but it will needing some decent knowledge, and I don't believe we can't beat any machine/software! there always be a weakness! but, don't face him one by one! cause I am pretty sure, you don't have any chance at all! but, you can try from behind one or two to knowing which weakness side! its only for cheapskate anyway, if you have decent money, and save your time, the only option is by using their services! unless you broke like me ! lol

I am not so sure it can be done manually anymore without some script or inside help and even then I would have to see it to believe it.
