Hello Everyone,

To remove the clutter and keep .CH domainers together, I feel it's better to have one thread rather than a bunch. So NNNN and LLL will be closed. Currently there are:

0 NNN for hand reg

1380 LLL for hand reg

6992 NNNN for hand reg(when I last checked a while ago).

We've been adding more and more domains over the past couple years on the GoDaddy management side. On the auctions side we allow people to sell as many names as possible. Providing a safe venue to transact with many potential buyers is important. We have a choice to make, provide a venue to sell domains that can be sold or only sell those we can move (almost all names fit both categories). We look at each on a case by case basis and try and add as many as we can that are able to be sold and requested. We do not want to hinder a seller's ability to sell because we cannot easily move a domain.

@Joe Styler - how can GoDaddy let you buy a .ch name there-no problem taking the money but not let you fully auction it or move it when you want to? Some of our .ch names are 10 year old names. It took GD some time to let people auction .io as I recall also-thus the rise of the very good platform park.io -didn't your company learn anything from that? Thank you.

p.s. a question for the thread-where is the best place/firm to move these .ch to from GoDaddy that makes it easy to transfer the .ch names once sold?

Sorry thought you were asking why you could sell domains with .ch on the auction and not easily move them. I am on the auctions side so I answered accordingly. On that all I can say is that we have added many new extensions and continue to add more. I do not know when/if we plan to add easy account pushing for .ch. We do allow some now through an escalation path with support. We continually look at new tlds to add and add according to our ability and customer demand, etc.

Joe-please post here if GD does make it easy re: .ch push-auction etc It would save everyone a lot of time to not have to open an account with a competitor just for .ch names. As a rule it wouldn't be a big deal but a well known Chinese broker ( as ive stated here before) feels that .ch can catch on in the China market-his words not mine. So this could be potentially important. Thank you.

CcTLDs don't work like .com. Some can be pushed (eg .us .in) but most cannot.

Obviously the fact that the big US registrars don't understand the peculiarities of each TLD doesn't help. But it's not specifically a godaddy problem here.

Many country codes can be pushed, .be .nl .bz .co .io .in etc

It is easy to transfer .ch to Namecheap, just go through their live support, costs $15 which gets refunded if the name has more than 30 days registration left. Then you can push it to another Namecheap account. I've done it already. Just unlock the domain and have auth code ready.

I know that .be and .nl can't be pushed. You must perform a transfer/trade through the registry.

BEWARE !

Some registrars may nonetheless allow you to 'push' these extensions.
But what happens is that control of the domain name is simply shifted from one customer account to another.
So you can change the DNS, but the registrant name in the whois record will remain unchanged.
That means that legally you don't own the domain name, and you will have problems when you want to transfer it or sell it. Because it's still in the name of the previous holder, and the auth code usually sent by the registry to the E-mail address on record. Their record.

If you've bough anything lately, I strongly advise you to check the whois record on the registry website.

All of my .ch domains are registered at NameCheap.

What I have noticed is the the whois IS updated with my information. However the registration date is the original registration date, not mine. So whois shows me as the registrant, but the registration date is the original registration date, not when I regged.

I know with NameCheap, I am able to push a .ch domain from my account to another NameCheap user account.

Then why is it no problem to push a .ch at NameCheap but it is a problem at GoDaddy? Any company that sells you a name should be able to handle a push. It's not rocket science.

Well that's the whole issue here. If the smaller registrars can push .ch, why can't the largest player(GD) do it. If anything, GoDaddy with it's billions should have more offers, opportunities and advantages compared to all the competitors.

Exactly-we have some serious names with GoDaddy in this extension -as well as other extensions- but we're going to open a NameCheap account today to add to our .ch names. Actually-if we're happy with NameCheap we may just end up moving all our names there-not just the .ch - I just don't like the way GD is handling this .ch extension.

The thing is, each extension is different. They have their own rules and pecularities.
Then, some registrars just do not handle them correctly. I've heard Nodaddy even kicks in their 60-day lockdown rule on .ch. Why ?

I think it's a bad idea to use the big US registrars for ccTLDs. I use European registrars for European extensions.

The fact is Godaddy did not really give out a real answer why they won't allow push for .CH and/or .CZ. I asked their tech rep and they don't even know why too.

Right now, we have a process where you can move any .ch name to another customer via an account push but it will have to involve a manual step on our back end so you will need to have an escalation created. This simply means contacting support via phone or chat etc and letting them know what you are trying to do and they can take care of it from there.

We have plans in the future to automate this process for .ch. It is already on the road map for the development team. This will mean no contacting support you will just move it as you would another tld such as a .com.

As I said we are always adding more domains and continuing to work on functionality. We have added scores of languages to our site and our email communications over the past year, in addition to local European Support at a call center there. I also will be attending domaining Europe in May for the first time. European extensions and domain investors are important to us and we are continuing to add products and services in order to better support that.

Joe-I think the reason so many are concerned re: .ch is because there is a real chance this extension catches on in China ( a Chinese domain broker's words not mine). That's why this is important.

I saw that in the thread earlier on. So if you sell one or 100 names to someone the change process would be to contact us and we will help move it to the buyer. It can be moved very quickly and soon the manual step will be removed.

@Joe Styler, I hope Godaddy can push this process more quicker for the customers. But sounds good when they are getting attention for the .CH issue on Godaddy
