Celebs/Artists and Re-selling their names

Can I register the domain name of celebrity/artist and actually resell it, i.e., not create a fansite on it?

Is it within my legal rights to do that?

Is it a TM violation when you're re-selling the names of such celebs? And what if they are dead?

I'm talking about names that are general, not stage names (like Eminem or Dr. Dre). For example, I recently regged Richard Wagner.org. Is that a TM violation? Can I resell it without any legal complications?

328 posts adn new here, did you read any of the threads in it's entirety? I know you were part of a thread where I answered like this....

Goto the search box, type in "trademark" then read for a week. Then type in "tm" and read the threads you may have missed. And in this case, then type in "celebs" and read some more. Every answer you seek will be there.


Sorry to sound a bit gruff, but jsut reading the past months worth of threads in legals will answer almost all of your questioins. It is called research. Sorry, but I have type this phrase about 5 times this past week it seems. You figure someone would do it when they read it.

I know you were in a thread where I posted it before, that is why I was hard on you. It is nice you are participating in this forum, but there is a lot to learn. And reading the legal section will get you so far ahead, you will thank me in the long run.
