What's the deal with .cc names? I've never bought one, but I know there is one I can get with a VERY good keyword. Is it worth doing?

The reg fee is somewhat expensive, but it may be worth a risk. Are all other major extensions taken with the keyword? Godaddy I believe has the cheapest ones when you enter in the 10% off code.

Yes, all other major and many of the offbest minor ones are taken.

I'm in the middle of the transaction now, so I don't want to say the name yet before I actually own it, but it's a hell of a short, meaningful popular name.

So, just for fun, as an example since Bills.com just sold for almost one million dollars, what would Bills.cc be worth? I'd say my keyword is better than "Bills".

I had to wait until tdnam delivered the actual name to mention it. Just got it. It's Meds.cc. That seems to me like a pretty darn good name for a prescription drug site.

IMO and a bit for fun also, a generic word .com is around 1,000 to 2,000 x higher valuated than the .cc (or other 'similar' extensions) , so that makes Bills.cc worth around $ 500 to 1,000. In the future this 1,000 to 2,000 x will be more like 100 or 200 x. So the future value of Bills.cc would be $ 5,000 to 10,000 (if the .com version stays the same value). BTW future is in 5 to 10 years from now.
My own example: loans.com was sold for 3 million (okay, I know, it was in the bubble, but still..) and I bought loans.cc for 600,-, so here the .com is 5,000 x more expensive and that makes absolutely no sense to me. Imagine you have 3 million, but decide to buy the .cc and spend (part of) the difference on extra marketing.

Disclaimer :) Of course this is all IMO and really a rough estimate, just wanted to get some figures out, John.

Bills.CC would be worth a lot less.

Well, I paid $100 for Meds.cc on tdnam. Seems like a safe price. I'm in no hurry so I'd think holding this for a few years will get me a $500 - $1000
