are there any known problems transferring a .CC name from one registrar to another? (eg from GD to either namecheap or moniker)
(I am aware cannot change registrars with .ws names which prompts this question)

There are no known problems. Sometimes a registrar will allow registrations but not transfers for some of the exotic tld's, but afaik this isn't the case with .cc domains.

I have moved many .cc's successfully from enom to godaddy/godaddy reseller sites.

Same, I have many .cc's @ Moniker and have had no problems xfer'n them away to other registrars.
